06 Gallardo Advice Please.
Hi, I am thinking of getting 06 spyder with E gear and was just wondering what sort of mileage I can expect from the clutch.
I know the earlier ones were weak. I am looking at one owner cars with around 7k miles which will be out of warranty. How can you tell if there is a problem/how worn it is, and what is a realistic price to replace.
I see that there are a lot of E gears out there so I expect this topic has been covered but I could not find any in a search.
Also what colors/options are a must have and conversely what to avoid.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From my understanding, the 06's received a host of important upgrades including a more powerful engine and, according to the folks over on Lambo Power, much better reliability. More pertinent to your question however, is that the clutch was upgaded that year to "Revision E", which was a sintered unit. From the threads I've read, people have been getting well over 20-25kmiles from them, as oppose to the weak clutches of the earlier cars that were failing below 10k. I would do some serious searching over on the LP forums, as there is a ton of info on just this subject.
Edit* Just realized that you're looking at E-gear cars. In that case, the dealer can pull up telemetry to find out how much clutch is left and how the clutch has generally been treated by the previous owner.

The average clutch wear is 8,000 depending on the driver. If the car goes into the dealer & gets inspected or plugged in then wear information can be provided.
Color is entirely up to you, some like the bright colors of green, orange & yellow while others like black, white or grey. Others like blue, burgundy or matte black. Try to get detailed pictures of the car if you are not able to see it in person. A detailed PPI is important, make sure to ask whether they can inspect the body panels to see if anything has been repaired or replaced

If it helps, I have almost 7k miles on my 08 and have about 90% clutch life left and have done 2 'thrust mode' launches, and I know a guy with an 04 that is driven hard but well cared for that has over 20k miles on the original clutch - both are e-gear.
I had an '06 E-gear and put over 20K miles on it. When I sold it, there was still 40% of the clutch left, according to the tech. The clutch wear will vary significantly depending upon the driver and the type of driving you do (i.e. freeway vs city driving).
As far as color is concerned, orange and white seem to command a premium, whereas silver has less demand. Colors like Pearl Yellow and Black fall in the middle somewhere. I personally think the car looks best in Orange (arancio borealis) and Pearl Yellow (giallo midas). I believe that orange commands a higher price due to the huge availability of yellow.

I agree, all depends on what type of driving you do.
