I have come across a nice LP640.
Just want to know if by end of this year they be taking a big hit with the new design coming up soon.
How much drop do you guys expect for this car in the next few years?

Thanks a bunch.

Why care...? If you want it, get it and enjoy it..

If you are worried about it not being worth it, then dont get it as you will always worry with every day and mile what its worth or what your loosing...

Oh AND YES it will loose value..EVERY DAY

Reason is that a friend of mine said it might drop another 30k-50k by next year. I could live with 5k drop, but that much drop, I will wait. I don't know how he comes up with that figure, but it's scary.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA If all you can live with a 5K drop then about the only car that you should be looking at is an '07 Accord. Sorry, I couldn't resist Even in good market conditions Lambos still drop quicker than a brick. Just the nature of the beast, but if you have the means, then it is always a good day to buy a Murci.

Well, the car when new in 2007 was $400k
2 years later $210k
Price drop of almost 100k / year. Which makes you think the car has depreciated the most in the first 2 years. Doesn't mean it will drop another 100k in the next 2 years. At one point these cars will just flat out or even go higher in price like the old Diablos.

It will drop prodigously if you put any miles on it at all though too. Keep in mind that production numbers of the Mucrielago are quite a bit higher as well. This will greatly reduce the rarity of these cars and decrease their value as well. Even if it still drops 20K a year for the next 4 years is that something that you would be able to stomach?

Right now is a good time to buy, but as with any car or any economy, cars will always depreciate. If you are just looking to lose 5k then a used Honda Accord is what you will need.

As for owning a Murcielago LP640, you should not be worried about the deprecation, a clutch job will cost over $15,000.

dang, is that actually true? cause i heard that the clutch in the G was like 10k before I bought one and in reality its only about 5-6k...much like a performance clutch job in a Porsche.

Only financial value :-) My lambo is worth as much to me today as the day I bought it...I am blessed for every mile I get to put on that car :-)

Yes, it's true...You may find a shop to do a Murcie clutch for $12,000, but probably not much lower than that. To change the clutch you have to remove the engine & trans.

On the Gallardo it is alot easier since the trans is behind the engine. I think some shops will do Gallardo clutches for ~$4,000.

By the way, I believe Accords do keep their resale value. 200k loss on a Murci LP in 2 years means the car was overpriced to begin with.

clutch on a 6 speed is about 7-8k, 12k on an egear

and prices will drop more as the posers that just have to have the lastest and greatest all rush out to buy whatever new model comes out to impress the neighbors, country club members, and tools at the local corner coffee place. Lambo owners are quickly catching Ferrari owners in the poser and tool catogory On top of that people looking to get out of their toys and hord their money will cause values to drop more.
How much? who knows, but look at early Murcis values if you want to be scared.
