The biggest change will be the adoption of the Audi R8’s aluminum spaceframe chassis as well as a carbon-fiber bodyshell. Styling of the vehicle's exterior has obviously been influenced by the Reventon models and the recent Estoque concept car. The Jota will retain the Murcielago’s mid-engine layout but be much lighter. According to previous reports, its wheelbase will be similar in length to the Murcielago but its overhangs, both front and rear, will be much shorter. It will also feature a wider track.
A big-cube V-12 engine will likely remain but the addition of direct injection technology should improve fuel-efficiency and power levels across the rev-range. In this way, engineers will be able to improve performance without having to boost power, the end result of which will be a much easier to drive Lamborghini flagship. The 670 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque developed by the latest Murcielago LP670-4 SV gives a rough estimate as to what to expect, though expect final numbers to sit somewhere around the 700 horsepower mark. A dual-clutch transmission is likely to be offered to help transfer power to the four wheels.
This may also be the first Lambo to be fitted with a hybrid powertrain, as well as fuel-saving engine stop-start and brake-energy regeneration technologies. CEO Stephan Winkelmann has already hinted at a 2015 launch for the hybrid Lamborghini and the new supercar’s expected 2012 release date puts it right on target to be the first green Lambo.

Holy side intake batman.
I think the doors will have a more McLaren-esque rotation angle.
I also think the bodywork is made from bits they had lying around. You see for instance the door mirror stem disappear into a hole. The actual car is probably under a thick layer of randomness.

So basically the new murcie will be based on the existing gallardo chassis. Cost cutting anyone lol
And in that case, wouldn't it be much smaller than the current murcie? Not sure I like this idea personally...

Opinion...Looks like to many cooks in the kitchen on the one above..design seems old and out dated. Now I maybe crazy not to HJ this thread, but find this design below refreshing, ahead of it's time like lambo should be and needs to be in production now. I even like the placement of the side mirrors nice break from the norm and makes me feel like when I first saw the Countach way ahead of it's time. Designer Julian Bumbo

It leaves me kinda melancholy though. Lamborghini haven't been the same since they became Audighini's. And it's too bad, the Murcielago still had Lambo blood with it's ties to the awe inspiring Diablo. Now the original bloodline may be gone for good.
To each their own, but the pure lambo blood in the murci is also likely to be responsible for the issues with them :-) the german blood in there is the only reason I actually considered it a viable car instead of a dream I had when I was 10.
