I have a 2005 Gallardo coupe egear that will need a clutch and throw-out bearing soon. The closest dealer to Jacksonville, Fl is in Orlando 2.5 hours away. They want $9500 for both. I have found them on ebay for much less. If these are replaced, does the CPU have to be reflashed to the new clutch assembly as the dealership is the only one with the software?
If yes, is there any other shop within reasonable distance from Jacksonville that can do this?

car has 11,400 miles but runs nicely. Just thinking about buying the clutch ahead of time for the future

for parts and labor around 9,500. I am probably going to sell for 91k. Beauty and runs perfectly

yes, 91k is a great deal for an '05 with 11,300 miles and the clutch is fine now just don't want to ship it 2.5 hours away to get the clutch flashed. I don't have enough posts to list in classified here. I have listed before on evay but just got dreamers and Boone serious.

Post this question on lambopower. My uninformed answer however is that the car does indeed need to be reprogrammed to allow the car to know the clutch's new take up point since you are going from a worn clutch to a new clutch.

 

That price is about $3K high. I rec you find a reputable indie shop that specializes in Lambos.

 

yes, the computer needs to be updated when cluthc is replaced. the egear fluid should also be changed.

if this is the first clutch change, you shouldn't need to replace the bearing.

you can also ask dealer if they are okay with you bring your own parts. there may be no warranty if you do that though.

some independent shops have the LIE computer to update the tranny computer. 9500 is a popular dealer quote for both clutch and TO bearing change. the true cost should be lower if you shop around.

 

agreed 6k should do the trick.

 

Not sure if the throw out bearing for the e-gear vs manual is the same but we got one for a customer & it was around $3500 for a manual transmission. Clutch is around $3,500 as well. Not at my desk so don't remember the numbers exactly.

If there is an independent shop with the Lambo computer that can do the programming then you are fine. If otherwise, it's dealer only. We would be able to take care of you only if you were a bit closer.

 

From my readings and research, it seems the 04 egears really go through clutches, and the software update on the 05+ really fixed this issue. Is this not true?

I also do not understand hot the G TT guys use the stock clutches for there 1000hp G's

It's at least a $5,000 fix and it takes a while.

I was at my independent mechanic's shop just yesterday and he had two 04 Gallardo egears in there for clutch replacements.

I would shy away from the 04 and the 05 egear for this reason. Get a manual in those years if you can - they did not have the clutch issue.

My 05 Gallardo clutch is worn only 30% after 15k miles since last clutch job. It should last plenty to make 30k miles on this clutch.

04 and 05 clutch is fine as long as it's been changed once. The *original* clutch on 04 and 05 is rubbish.
