2011 Granturismo S vs 2006 Gallardo? Lambo maintance really $10,000/year?
How can you ask this, obviously the Gallardo. 10k is alot though, this is without fuel and insurance too so you'll be paying like 7-15% of the car's price per year. It's worth it though, the ***** you'll get (if you're single) in it will be worth it
Didn't take depreciation into much of an account since they both depreciate $10k/year or more. The fact that you can buy an 06 gallardo for half the MSRP is alarming in itself. Dunno why people bash maserati's depreciation when any exotic car depreciated just as bad. Ferrari is probably the least depreciating exotic, but that's because people don't drive them. Put some miles on Ferrari and it will be the same.
If both are the same price now- you can bet in 3 years the Maserati will be worth 30% less than the Gallardo in the same period.
A clutch kit is about $3k in parts. The labor is usually a couple grand. The engine stays in for a Gallardo clutch change. The throwout bearing is another $3k or so and you will probably replace that every other clutch. I averaged about 12k miles per clutch on my rental Gallardo. You should get more than that under regular driving with stock wheels. If you do alll city driving you will use the clutch more quickly. There are a lot of write ups on proper e-gear usage. The tips you will find do help considerably.
Regarding the depreciation, they will not both depreciate linearly. The Gallardo has taken a hit since new but keep in mind it has been 5 years. They are holding their values well now. An 06 Maserati Gransport that was $100k new is now a $35k car or so.

Mr Ed,
I was reading through on this thread and saw you mention on proper e-gear usage.. I'm going to google that and see so I can use my e-gear the right way, but do you know of any links on this topic that you would recommend and/or prefer ??
its funny you can find maserati's for $20,000... fantastic cars, but the maintenance is no $20,000 car maintenance.
with the e-gear and other single clutch automated manuals you can maximize clutch life by manually shifting, instead of auto mode, and shifting into neutral when slowing to a stop at a light. there might be other tricks, but those are the basics. problem is downshifting sounds so good.

fantastic cars, though. i hope to be able to get one some day. enjoy!
I had no issues with my gallardo, it should only cost you a few hundred a year until you need something major.. BUT I sold my gallardo because the attention it drew, I would not use it as a daily driver.. UNLESS you need the attention...
