Before people come unglued (like most on the Vette Forums) it's important to consider that R&T spells out in the Dec issue exactly how they perform the test. Here's what they said...
"First, we report our data as recorded; we do not adjust values for temperature, altitude or humidity. Second, with manual-gearbox cars we do not slip the clutch at the start nor power-shift. Our accelerations are significantly more aggressive than any prudent street behavior; however, they are devised to be non-abusive of machinery. Last, as is standard NHRA drag-strip procedure, we use a 1-ft "rollout" in our calculations. That is, the car travels 1 ft before triggering the clock. (A typical car takes 0.3 second to travel this first foot)."
I believe MT gets better numbers in the quarter, but they also adjust the data based on the weather conditions, and I believe they don't use the 1 ft rollout.

And look back to my last post on page 1, maybe that will clear things up. As a matter of fact, here is the exact quote from the owner of the Z06
"We beat the Lambo 3 times. We would have walked him more but I was starting in second at about 3,200 rpms when 4,000 would have pulled much stronger."
Given that the lambo was stock (Which it wasn't) and given that the guy in the Z was at an optimal rpm (Which he wasn't) the Gallardo would have been out of sight.

Video is part of "Beyond the Quarter, Volume 3" and will be available on DVD in about a month. Preview and pre-order here:

(You'll need QuickTime 7 to watch the video)
I saw the vid in my friend Rob's studio. It's his DVD ... his footage. It's pretty insane how fast that Z06 is.

And how do you know exactly (12.8@115) what the Lambo would have recorded in the quarter had they tested it that same day?

The Z would have raped that car had it been in its powerband.
-The Z is bone stock, the Galalrdo had a Tubi
-The Z was in 2nd gear at ~3K rpms, the Gallardo was in 1st
-The Z still beat the Gallardo by 3 cars
look at the circumstances guys...this is why the Z "only" beat the Gallardo by 3 cars.
