Laminate Vs. Mold
Hi,
I just wanted to clarify a few things. We do the Gallardo CF interior using carbon fiber lamination. That's where the carbon is epoxied onto the original plastic piece and then clear coated. We use only genuine carbon fiber. Although we would like to do every part as a molded piece, the Gallardo parts are too complex to be done in pure carbon - at least at a "reasonable" price point. The Gallardo interior snaps together with a lot of proings on the backs of pieces and very close tolerances that make lamination the technology of choice. We use the same for our Porsche interiors. As pointed out above, the factory parts for the Gallardo (and Porsche as well) are laminated parts as well.
For the Murci (and most Ferraris), which is much simpler, we used molded pieces for the center console, AC panel, AC cover, and door sills. We use lamination for airvents, seat *****, etc. Its all a matter of finding which technology works best for the application.
