Possibly buying a gallardo help needed

Having difficulties with my 997tt and looking to replace it.I am down to 2 choices an Audi r8 or gallardo.
I know how the gallardo drives having driven a couple but \I have heard some horrific stories about clutches and running costs..what do people reckon on the running costs here ? I am not talking about depreciation or fuel as both of those are similar to what I am running now,but a service on a 997tt is £300-£500..

depends what model year you are looking at...

The newer ones have less issues than the 04s/05s...

Are you in London?

I would love to hear from these people that claim to have had such horrific problems with there Gallardo's.
IMO the Gallardo is the most reliable car ever built. Aside from regular oil changes the maintenance costs are almost none existant.

In 2004 Lamborghini extended a campaign update to revise the initial clutch- At that time most if not all Gallardo owners had new clutches installed. Thats the only Gallardo issue I ever heard of and Lamborghini addressed it.

Knock on wood, my Gallardo is more reliable than all of my other cars, short of my Lexus.

I was talking to some of the service guys that work for lambo, and they said that the newer models are almost error proof, and that it is almost impossible to have driver error damage the car.

I have been thinking about buying one as well. I happen to work for a dealership that sells and services them so I have asked a lot of questions about ownership and improvements. The newer ones are definitely the way to go. The clutch has been improved on both e-gear and manual transmission since they first came out in 2004. I've got some customers that have traded in their 04s on 06s or newer and say it is like night and day. As far as service goes, it should be around $4k-$6k a year if you don't daily drive or put too many miles on it. Definitely more than on a Porsche, but not as expensive as a Diablo.

How are you figuring 4-6K/yr for maintenance?? Definitely not what I have been told by various G owners.

I think that 4-6 grand a year figure is a little high.I owned a Gallardo and IMO it is a fantastic car in looks, performance and reliability.

IMO $4k-$6K is waaaay high..My Gallardo was meticuously maintained and my annual cost was $800-$1k/year (This included all fluid changes).

I'd love to see a break down of exactly what costs $4k-$6K a year.

wow thats just sad, hope everything works out for you Franki and you end up with a car that you like.

I guess the whole thing about rejecting the car didnt quite work to your favor?
