4 LMOO2 Photoshoot...

I can't believe that I actually made this happen. 3 LM's in the Seattle area (one of them is mine) and one (the original RAMBO LAMBO - ie: originally owned by Sly) came down from BC.

I believe that these were originally built to win a contract with the U.S. army. They were already going to begin delivering a few to the army, until AM General brought out the HUMVEE, which was slower, less expensive, and easier to drive. Apparently a few of the reasons we didn`t use it were because it was more expensive, and it was a 6 speed; and the majority of our troops don`t know how to drive stick.
I love this car though. Especially the black one.

Actually, the story I heard (from someone who has been with Lamborghini for 30 yrs. now) is that the Saudi gov't sent out a letter to every capable car manufacturer - a challenge - to produce a vehicle that could patrol their desert borders. Lamborghini was the only one to respond. With the help of some american engineers, they developed the prototypes. Some of the first ones were rear engined....didn't work too well when jumping sand dunes at high speed.

However, if one browses the lamborghiniregistry.com and looks up the LM002/Cheetah/LM001,3,4 it appears that some strange combination of Hernando's story and the one that I heard would be closer to the truth.
