LFA 1st Test, Z06 speed for 599 GTB money!
It truly has one of the best sounding exhaust notes I can think of, if not the BEST. Quite suprised by this, but the performance is less then stellar, if they would just add another 100 hp to it and strip 2-300 lbs out of it, it would deserve the title of supercar.
What exactly is the definition of "stellar performance" if you don't mind me asking........? I can get to 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and reach top speeds of 172 mph in my ISF, is that stellar? I've driven 500 hp 911 turbos, boosted Z06's, Kleeman tuned AMG's, are those stellar performers? Your response is so capricious and arbitrary that I'm kicking myself for even granting you the courtesty of posting a response!

I would assume you mean stock exhaust notes, because a Carrera GT with straight pipes or Murci with Lambo OC exhaust may sound better.

Let me ask you a question would you have such rosy feelings about your ISF if it was slower than a RX400h?
No one answers this question yet. You have asked different variants of it 3 times I know of and everyone dodges it. So my guess is that no one would buy it but everyone likes to talk about how great it is.
I think you know my position on this question.
All joking aside I found myself thinking that if I had say near $400k burning a hole in my pocket. That a GTR, ZR1, and GT2 and that should leave some money left over for mods. Its pretty cheap to get the GTR and ZR1 modified but still have enough left over for bringing the GT2 up to GT2 RS power levels!
What do you guys think, tomorrow morning you get a call....and you inherited, won, found $400k would your next call be to Lexus?

Yes, if I had the money, I'd make a call to Lexus. I'd also call many of the other marques in question and make an informed decision before buying. Actually see the cars in the metal, maybe start them up and drive them if possible. So what?
A modified car with a $450k MSRP from one of the most legendary nameplates on the planet, originally compliant to only Euro4 standards, may sound better than a bone stock, full exhaust Euro5 compliant Lexus. Let that sink in a bit before you reply.
LOL...And it continues
So is there anything both sides can agree on?
Lets all remove price for a moment and put our egos and googling
on the back burner for a bit.
1. Is the LF-A's "all around performance" stellar? IMHO yes especially with documented 7:24 time on the Ring. If ACR, ZR1, GT2, GTR times are stellar then the LF-A's performance on the Ring surely is especially considering the competition its time has beaten.
2. Is the LF-A's acceleration stellar? IMHO not at all. I feel it should be turning around 130mph+ traps at least and with Toyota/Lexus know-how it could have easily been done. Why? Because of the long gestation involved and them knowing where the competition is at and also where they were going to position the car.
Have you ever bought or considered buying a product that was pretty good but were disappointed that the mfg didnt go the little extra mile and turned out a close to perfect product especially when they have done so in the past? This is how I feel about the LF-A. So close to possible perfection performancewise and they skimped on one of the most looked at/desired performance parameters for a hyper exotic.
3. Is the LF-A's all around looks stunning? Subjective but IMHO all around, no. The car looks the part from the rear. It could have been much better looking overall specifically the front end. I love the rear end uniqueness but I believe the front isnt in harmony with the rears design and far from memorable as the rear is. The front looks more budget Toyota sportscar then hyper exotic and brings down the overall presence/looks imho. This kills the overall appeal of the design to me although I must admit in orange, and darker than white colors, it looks a little better.
For me when you put the above together with the asking price you see my reasons for my disappointment in the final product. The front end and straightline acceleration are my very sore points with this car. Sad for me because the car technically/dynamically is on another level from what Ive read.

I just feel giddy seeing the GT-R being compared to the GT2, LF-A, and ZR-1.
That said, I sure as hell wouldn't be calling Lexus for a LEASE of one of these (unless the residual is so high that they are only asking $199/mo). So if they are only releasing them for two years, what kind of payment is that? If there is only one option to take on off the lot, they must all have around the same payment. Does anybody know what that is?
(Might sway me one way or the other - probably also another way to soften the blow of the sticker price)

I'm a fanboy! I think the LFA is a well built piece of machinery and a technological marvel. I love the new GT2, 911 turbo, and the GTR, ZR1, Ferrari Italia, Viper ACR, RS6 Avant, Z06, CTS-V, M5, M6, M3, IS-F, RS4............I'm the biggest fanboy on the planet because I "blindly and rudely defend a car I don't aspire to own or will never own"
You can't say that because there are cars on that list that you do own, and others you aspire to own. But when I ask a simple question of if you received $400k tomorrow would you next call be to Lexus and no one has specifically said they would buy one. That is crazy, I would not spend that much time blindly defending a car that I would never want!
Guibo we have already established where you are on a scale between 0 to fanboy. Does anyone else have anything valid or thought provoking to add?
You guys act as if people want to spend $400k and compromise on the things that typically make a car worth $400k. Are there eccentric people that only care about rarity that will buy the car? Of course there is but the fact that no one has stepped up and said they would buy one means in the back of your mind that you guys are not convinced the Lexus is as truly revolutionary as you say it is!
