New Ring time 7:14 set by LFA
The LFA is an awesome car, it has great looks, performance and sounds amazing. It also has a very beautiful engine and dedicated engineering however it's just far too expensive. Yes, Lexus has made their first supercar, it's exclusive and all however they forgot one thing. I know I'm gonna get some heat for this but at the end of the day it's a Lexus. There's nothing wrong with that, they're great and reliable cars however Lexus is not an established exotic maker like Ferrari or Lamborghini so that price tag will only appeal to true enthusiasts of that car, not anyone who has the money and wants a supercar because I'll be honest, as much as I like it if I had that money and wanted to buy a car I wouldn't even consider it. Awesome achievement though and good on them, that's a very fast and well setup car.
Concerning production car times the "Loaded M3 CSL" is considered a production car and it did a 7:22:XX with only off the shelf parts and some dedicated tuning. This proves that the E46 M3 chassis is one of BMWs best chassis if not one of the best car chassis ever made. As a standard M3 owner I can understand why this car achieved this. Yes, it has a roll cage and aftermarket suspension however none of that matters without a great weight distribution and chassis design. It's not even that powerful or light Vs the other top times, it make ~520-530whp which some of the other cars on the top of list have alot more and some are lighter and some both. It's not a production car but it is a street legal car, I know those are factory car times but still, it's incredible.

Lexus not an exotic car maker?
Irrelevant. Just because the 'typical' exotic car maker made cars for decades that were some of the most unreliable, problematic, and very expensive to maintain, doesn't mean they can't compete.
A few years ago, there was no Pagani, no Koenigsegg, and the company that brought you the K-car, brought you the Viper.
There was a time when Lamborghini was laughed off because they had no heritage (as if they could build a car that could compete with Ferrari). Everybody starts somewhere. It doesn't matter where.
Irrelevant.

It was Lamborghini who originally improved the reliability of a Ferrari by fitting a tractor clutch to it. He told Ferrari of the mod trying to be helpful. They then derided him so he built a competitor.

Congrats to Lexus on this achievement, but I still think LFA is crazy overpriced. My main issue with the LFA is styling, it just doesn't look like a $400k car should. Put a Ferrari or Lambo next to it and there is no comparison, LFA looks like something out of fast & furious set. Same goes for GT-R, awesome car but ugly as sin. Spending so much money on R&D, you'd think Lexus and Nissan could've hired some Italians to design the damn thing.
