Base Macan

Looks like the base Macan is finally out of the bag.

Some pretty good, detailed photos in the last link. Take a look at the engine bay with its "Porsche 2.0" badge and the four little bars on the engine cover.

Specs aren't too bad but are quite a way off the Macan S - 174 kW (233 hp) out of a 2.0L engine as evidenced from a door sticker and the engine badge. I'm expecting performance to be around the 7 second mark for the 0-100 sprint and a top speed around 225-235 km/h.

TripleL is infamous around these parts
Nice addition to the line up. It seems Porsche will ensure there will be a full range of Macan models over the next few years.

macan base makes sense in asia, where cars are taxed based on displacement and roads are often congested.

macan s is the cross over for me. looks nice. i have never had an suv/cross over. this is the first one that appeals to me. small with good performance and reasonable gas consumption.

Define "reasonable" gas consumption. Some of us feel that it isn't as reasonable as we expected it would be.

Here it is: the base Macan.

Specs are pretty much as I expected/called them earlier:

- 2.0 liter inline four-cylinder engine displacing 1984 cc
- 237 horsepower/174 kilowatts
- 350 Nm of torque from 1500-4500 rpm
- 0-100 in 6.9 seconds
- 223 km/h top speed
- Fuel consumption is 8.4 - 8.7 L urban, 6.5 - 6.8 L extra-urban, 7.2 -7.5 L combined
- Carbon dioxide emissions are at 168 - 175 grams per 100 kilometers
- Unladen vehicle weight is 1770 kilograms

All in all, not bad but seeing as this car uses a tuned EA888 engine used in the Q5 and rides on the Q5 platform, this is essentially a Porsche-branded Q5... And I don't say this in a derogatory sense at all as the four-cylinder petrol Q5 is a terrific car.
