Porsche got it wrong

Not impressed with the Macan Turbo. My 991tt drives much better and smoother in city traffic. The throttle is relatively muted in normal mode and peps up considerably in Sport mode. The Macan, however, is very sensitive. Touch the pedal slightly and the thing takes off. I have not noticed much of a difference between normal mode and Sport mode. On the 911 there is a considerable difference in which normal mode is quite tolerable for city driving. This is my wife's primary car and second guessing that we should have gotten the "S" instead of the turbo. Just curious of what others think.

I think any SUV will have a problem when compared to a 991tt. While the Macan isn't perfect, it appears to be one of the best handling SUV type vehicles. I doubt if the S will feel much different than the Turbo.

I'm not sure I follow you. Is the throttle on the Macan Turbo muted or overly sensitive? And you can't notice the difference in Normal vs Sport? I've never driven a 991tt, but I'm not sure it's a fair comparison? So are you saying that the Macan Turbo has too much power?

I'm just over 2k miles on my Macan Turbo, I notice a considerable difference in throttle response between normal and sport. I love the vehicle, quick, agile, and nimble, while still offering a good amount of practicality. You might be the first I've ever seen on any forum that wishes they opted for the smaller engine.

Agree the Macan is a great car, etc. On my car I feel the throttle is overly sensitive in the normal mode. It is a simple mapping issue that they could have muted the throttle for city driving. I can only compare this to arguably their reference sports car- that normal mode is fairly easy on the throttle and if you put the 991tt in Sport or Sport Plus mode it becomes a very nasty beast (this is the reason we all buy one anyways). I have never driven the Macan S but I am assuming the throttle response may be slightly different.
There have been a lot of postings of members who drove both and recommended the "S" for their wives car. They did not feel the extra power for the money was that significant.

I have a 996 TT Cab Tip which puts out over 550hp so can compare TT's to the Macan. (also have 991S X51) I test drove the Macan S and hated it. Then test drove the Macan Turbo and loved it. I do like the way it moves out with light pedal pressure. Going to be a fun DD. Macan Turbo slated for October production.

Interesting perspective. My Macan Turbo is the fastest and most powerful engine I've owned thus far, the throttle does take a little bit of getting used to. However, I thought more so because of the power that I'm not used to, and not necessarily because of the throttle response.

Anyhow, from all accounts, the S is more than sufficient for most, esp for the price- my SA said the same during my test drive of the Turbo. I've never driven the S so I don't have an opinion. On paper, seems solid.

That said, I have to disagree about Porsche getting it wrong. Aside from the minor hiccups being an early adopter, I absolutely love my Macan. I couldn't be happier.

There is a considerable difference between normal and sport modes in Macan Turbo. I can't say I agree with 2020.

I have a Macan Turbo and feel that acceleration in all three modes is smooth and linear .

I love my Macan! While not a sports car, I think it's the best all-around vehicle I've ever owned. Can't wait for the Turbo S version to come out.
