12v Power

I'm trying to hook up a dash cam, and temporarily (before wiring into the fuse box) I wanted to use the camera by just plugging into the 12v cigarette adapters. However, it seems like all three I tried are powered all the time, even after 5 or 10 minutes of exiting the vehicle (so then of course the camera continues to run, potentially draining the battery). Am I missing something? Are all the power ports really powered constantly even with the vehicle off?

Thanks in advance for any hints!

In my Cayenne they cut off after 30 min. Try waiting longer.

If it is just temporary, can you not turn the camera off each time until you wire it in properly? Or just unplug it each time?
