Quattroporte (Stay away from 22's?)

Hi Guys,

I joined this forum at the suggestion of a friend to get some advice before making a purchase. I'm looking at a 2007 or 2008 Quattroporte. I've found one listed with a dealer in Ft. Meyers that has everything I want at I price I want, but it has 22" Lexani wheels.

I've been told that the ride might suffer from larger wheels on a car like this but wanted to hear your thoughts. I would post the link to the car but don't want to get in trouble for linking to eBay.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Mark, welcome aboard from a pretty new guy here. I personally would want a the Quattroporte with 19" or 20" wheels as it was meant to have. You will find the resale for a mostly stock car is the best and performance with the smaller wheels will be better. You obviously don't get the 'bling' factor that you would have from the 22" wheels, but I think in the long run it will be better on the car to keep the size intended from the factory.

I have 22's for the summer on my QP. The ride doesn't suffer much you just need to be more aware of pot holes because theres not room for much tire. You can buy a nice set of stock rims fairly easy and may be able to sell the 22's for more money.

Heres my 22's with the stock suspension.

There are plenty of QP's around S. Florida with 22's and the guys
i spoke to have no complaints. The secret is the choice of tires. Select an all-season tire that's engineered to be comfy to compensate for less sidewall.
However, if it was me, I'd go with 21's.

I must admit 22s look good but it all depends on where/why you drive the car.

I would not want to be some 2"-3" over factory if driving in a spirited manner or on a track!

Big difference between 22's from Lexani and others, never mind that their line is plain ugly, but their heavy as hell = heavy unsprung weight. That alone can affect the suspension/ride vs other 22's that are lighter.
