GranTurismo

Hey guys, I'm shopping for a GranTurismo for the wife. I've done a considerable amount of reading on them, just wanted to check and see if you guys suggest staying away from any certain model/yr's (mainly from a reliability standpoint)? Also, can you guys recommend a good private shop for maintenance/PPI's etc in the Los Angeles or at least SoCal area? Thanks!

You are going to get questions like this answered more on maseratilife forums.

The Maserati subform on 6speed is not the most viewed forum around.

Yeah, I registered over there a couple of months ago and the mods never properly confirmed my account (so it won't let me post). I've emailed the moderator on 3 different occasions, all of which have I have not gotten a reply to. Frustrating to say the least...

Maybe that's a sign that the Maserati isn't the way to go. The support network on this forum has been vital to my successful Porsche ownership experience!

Black991S is infamous around these parts
I used to have a GranTurismo S, 7000 miles and a year and half, went back to the shop for a few times, driver side heated seat turn on by itself in the middle of summer and wont turn off, the screen inside the cluster flickers, the suspension acted funny. Switched to a 2012 911S, not as luxury and exotic, but the driving part made it up for all (besides the exhaust note)

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience at Maserati Life. Can you try registering under a spare email address? I think you will find the support and feedback very useful over there. I read it every day and I really believe that most of us with 2008+ Rats are overall pretty happy. There is some *****ing about premature battery replacement and the odd CEL light from a loose gas cap...but very few major problems. My 2012 GTS has been perfect so far. The other thing that comes through again and again is that Maserati NA supports rat owners very constructively way above and beyond the warranty. I challenge any 911 owner (and I am a former one) to claim that Porsche NA comes even close. Just my two cents...

Thanks, funny you mentioned the spare email idea, I did just that a few days ago and was able to setup an account with full privileges.
