08 GranTurismo minor service advice
Hi all,
I am new to Maserati's so please bear with me if I come off as a "noob"
So I'm approaching a minor service on my 2008 GranTurismo: oil, oil filter, air filter element, and spark plugs.
Coming from a lifelong Porsche background, I've found that identifying the types and specifications of maintenance products to be very wide.
Some say that the 5w40 oil needs to be either from Maserati or Shell Helix.
- Is this true? I don't see why I can't use another reputable brand of synthetic 5w40 oil.
Furthermore, I am unable to find an oil filter and air filter element for the car.
However I've had some luck with the spark plug spec and have found that many people are using the NGK (96361) PMR8C-H Laser Platinum Spark Plug.
Any and all help would truly be appreciated as to what plugs, brand of oil/oil filter, and air filter may be used.
The reason I'm "struggling" is that on all of my Porsches, ranging from air-cooled 911's to my most recent 997 GT3 RS, the specs are important (though Porsche is not of the same caliber as Maserati), were very flexible. I used Fuchs oil on many, as well as brands such as Rotella, Mobil 1, and Castrol.
Thanks again
