thinking about GT, need help
Hello
As title says. Been thinking about buying GT.
Please educate me what to look out for last gen (2019 & older) cars. I know very little about Maserati's, aside that I really like the styling & glorious exhaust sound. I've been on Aston forum last 8 years & learned a lot on that site,( own a 2013 V8 Vantage) very similar looks & engine size 4.7 with only difference is Aston is 6 speed manual. I love that car but I just want something more practical with auto transmission for trips with wife so we can both take time behind steering wheel.( she doesn't drive manual)
Please chime in with your knowledge about pros & cons about each year, what years to avoid & what to look for.
And if you have one for sale, let me know.
Thanks
A.P.

Having owned one (2013 MC Gran Cabrio) and done research on them fairly extensively, I'll give you a fast run down.
2008-12 first run with the double fog light front end. Sport version available with different exhaust end. Old interior with puffy looking seats.
2013-17 MC version available which is mainly an appearance package with the big wide grin front chin, different fender with blacked out gill holes, center exhaust, carbon spoiler. 2014-17 sport models also come with a wide front end looks similar to MC but not exactly the same. Sport and base exhaust are on the sides, and have different tips. The new seats are much better than 2012 seats.
2018-19 revised front again with triangular openings for the front chin. Interior upgrade to stereo that is finally semi modern.
The US never got a MC Stradale. We only got the MC which is only looks for the most part. If you see a seller pushing you that it is a Stradale, run. A true Stradale is a 2 seater.
Get the later version with the 4.7L engine. The 4.3L engine can develop cam variator problems which can be costly but is a non-issue with later 4.7L engines.
The old stereo is beyond laughable in a luxury car. You have to buy a $10 Bluetooth aux jack if you want to stream music. The navigation system is straight out of 1992.
Gremlins abound to remind you it's italian. Every other time I started it, something went wrong. Learn how to do an Italian reset. I used it a few times. Thankfully Maserati knows you'll need to do it often enough they put a QD lever on the battery lead so you don't need a wrench at all.
But... that glorious cold engine start up in my MC with the top down... gorgeous 19" anthracite MC trident wheels... the superb leather and seats... beautiful ride made for long drives up the coast.
Huge trunk. Terrible gas mileage (10-13mpg). Shifter has paddles but it's like a first gen autostick not a double clutch.
I didn't get the newer one with the new radio because it wasn't worth it just for a radio to pay that much more for the car that hasn't changed otherwise. Hated the old 2012 front end. Didn't like the MC Sportline which some are pushing as true MC which it isn't. It's more like a M appearance package and doesn't come with everything. Option packages everywhere in carbon, leather, embossing, etc. Look over every little thing if possible, find the dealer sticker or get a spec print out of all packages and options on the car. Don't take a dealers word for it, most don't know what they are selling.
Would I buy another one? You bet I would. Just not now.

good pointers. Aside from front bumper and radio is there more difference 2018 to older cars?
Also, heard some have sticky button like early Fcars.
Are all years affected by that or early ones?

Mine didn't have sticky buttons at all although I have heard that some do have that problem. I think it depends on the weather and how it was kept. Mine was a 1 owner Calfornia car kept in dry weather and out of the sun. I heard east coast cars experience that a bit more. It is an issue you should look for and it does take some money and time to fix if you have to take it out and send the affected units to a professional. You can do it yourself but it's a headache and you would take off the labels on the buttons unless you refinish them like you do the F cars.
The interior leather is very nice and hardy though and you shouldn't see too much wrinkling or wear unless it wasn't treated right. Mine had the white parchment perforated leather and it was so gorgeous, with the embroidered Trident headrest, new design seats... I miss my car.
