Asking friends, I got a recommendation to take my 12c to an independent shop in San Diego area. I met Steve Ito. He is very nice and polite on the surface, but I learned that he is not. I took several jobs to him, but he never completed any of them correctly. There was always an issue, whether cleaning the headlights, changing the Amarillo, etc. It came to a head when I took my car to him to fix some of the previous issues and offered him some new work and he didn't have my car ready for a month or so. I just had to go to pick it up. I had paid him for parts, but I had no proof of jobs being completed. After I brought the car back to my house, I realized none of the jobs written on the invoice had been performed.

So many lies for months. Just to pick up my car, I had to wait at his shop for about 5 hours, never showed up, someone else finally did and my keyfob was broken. So we had to fix that before I could drive it off! See the attachment, which shows all the jobs he was supposed to complete. He lied to me that he did them, but I have proof that he didn't. Once I showed him the proofs, he said he would finish the job or pay me back, but he never did for months.

I hope no one else has to go through all of this. After months of communicating with him, I'm just going to let others know and take him to court.

Not quite the SD area but in south orange county Newport beach area, there is sports car specialty that does McLaren and he is an ex McLaren mechanic that opened up his own shop. I've been there and stayed while he worked on cars and I can wholeheartedly recommend him. He's got a P1 in there regularly if that shows how much he is trusted.
