From 997 To E63?
I Need To Get A 4 Door Car And Im About To Buy A E63 But Am Having Trouble Letting Go Of The Pcar. Has Anybody Done This Before And If So How Was The E63 Compared To The Pcar
Two different beasts, I have a 997TT and an E63 AMG, the mercedes is much more comfortable, lots of space and used as a dailly. You should keep the Pcar and get the Mercedes too. As for Porsches, you know better, once hooked its very difficult to let go.

You really can't compare the two. I mean for a daily driver I would say the E63 is going to be more functional and luxurious ect, but its not a sports car. Sooner or later everyone realizes you need at least two cars; one for the weekends, and one for regular usage. One thing I think you'll realize though if you decide to make the move to two cars is you will want the weekend car to be more extreme. The 997tt is great, but it is designed to be a daily driver. So you may want to trade the TT for a GT3 and pickup the E63 too. Then you will get a taste of the italian stallions and you will probably end up with a Ferrari or at LEAST a Lambo lol. You may disagree now but it's a time honored tradition. Look at the people who have been on this forum for a long time and everyone has gone through the same process lol it's kind of fascinating.
Either way both are great cars. If you don't have a problem logistically with the TT I would just keep that. The E class is a big car and it sort of drives like one so if you are real aggressive when driving and more specifically take turns fast you will probably be disappointed with the 63. I will make this argument though, and it applies to my e55 so I imagine the 63 is similar, but anyways I really think the E55 is one of the fastest cars you can drive from the standpoint of a DD. It has soooo much torque, and the gearing is soooo long that you can almost always be going fast and feel comfortable. In the Turbo if you are going fast everyone in the car is going to know it and may be uncomfortable. It's hard to explain sort of but never having to kick down a gear, and having gobs of torque all the time is just amazing in a non-track setting. My 996tt was a great car, but below 3800RPMs it was worthless. If I floor the E55 at 1200RPMs stuff happens. The other issue I had with the turbo was it calls so much attention to yourself that it can be a pain at times.

Thanks for the input guys. As ths point in my life I wish I could afford both cars. I am trading the Pcar for the e63 due to pratical reasons. I need something with 4 doors and a trunk for work. I had two cars before with the Pcar included and after thinking about it, spending 2600 a month on car payments is pretty crazy. IM still in my mid 20's and i figured I have alot more years to enjoy later in my life. I need to start saving some money so I can pay cash for my cars and not worry about payments.
So all in all, do you think a e63 is a good switch from a Pcar or is there better options with 4 doors out there

- Audi S5 - I usually hate Audi styling, but the S5 is a great looking car. All wheel drive is very nice. However, it wasn’t fast enough for me so I passed.
- BMW M5 - A great car no doubt, but the iDrive scared me and I’m not quite sold on the styling. I also think the E63 is more luxurious and sophisticated than the Beamer. Finally, in the Seattle area, M5s seemed to be about $5K more expensive than the E63.
Merc ML63 - I really like this super SUV. 0-60 in the high 4s and 4 wheel drive. I like the styling, but some folks hate it. I might have pulled the trigger but it wouldn’t fit in my garage!
I’m very happy with the E63. What I love about it is I can basically choose whether to chill out and glide to work (e.g., adjust suspension and car height and go in comfort mode) or turn into an aggressive race car drive (s mode or manual). I’ve destroyed a fair amount of super mustangs and beamers that tried to test me on the roads. The speed is just unbelievable for such a big car. I think it is tad understated, but a window tint and some rims can solve that minor issue. It is definitely a stealth assassin.
If you get one, post pics. Here is mine.

I was in a similar position, in that I had a small, fast 2 door convertible (SLK55 AMG), but I wanted something a little more practical. After conducting a ton of due diligence, I picked an 08 E63 AMG. It had everything I wanted: luxury (it’s a Benz), speed (0-60 in low 4s), HP (507), 4 doors, and most importantly, an under $100K price tag. Other cars I considered:

I finally did it and traded in my 997 cab for a 08 e63. No regreats at all right now. I love the comfort and speed of the MB. I will be back though to a Pcar sometime in the future but I did really miss the comfort and features that the Pcar never had
If you are going to trade from a Porsche to a sedan, the CLS63 or E63 is really the way to go. If you want more power, go with the E55 or CLS55. We did an E55 that would embarrass most P cars, and my friends E63 did a 12.5 at the track, bone stock.
