its pointless to use the R888 as a street tire. You'll never get it into the right temp range on the street, and all you will do is heat cycle them to death. They will offer more grip than a street tire cold for maybe the first 20 heat cycles, then the 20 heat cycle old street tire will have better grip.

If you want a good tire for the street, as mentioned earlier, try the R1R. Or, my personal favorite is the Advan Neova. I drive a couple time attack cars that use this in the street tire class and they grip just like an r compound if shaven. And they heat cycle real well. Only issue you will see with the Neova or the R1R is that they feather at full tread depth if you use them on the track...

Eeek...doing that with no jackstand or backup support for the jack? I'd hate to see the jack fail with no wheels on the car...

Car looks amazing however.

Yeah, this is another reason why I chose not to go with an R compound. I figured probably little noticeable difference on the street with increased wear. Unfortunatley the Neovas don't come in 19" sizes though, and actually the only tire in the Neova category I could find in 19" were the Bridgestone RE-01Rs, but at 245/275 I was told these would be a little too wide, especially considering these tires run wide as well. I ended up going with the RE050A PP.

so for the 1st 10 round trips, he has the potential to have more grip than the street tire. After that, they will make more noise because they feather, not be as comfortable because of the stiffer sidewall, and not grip as well. The grip difference from fresh while cold isn't huge, and on the street you'll never see the difference. I get tires for next to free from a sponsor. And I put street tires on street cars bacause they work better for the street.

why is it baller to run these on the street? Its a nice car, but its not like it burns stacks of $100 bills as you drive across town...

I run the R888's on my kinesis wheels when I hit the track and some ocassional use. Something to keep in mind when getting R888's is that they run wider than normal tires in the same size. I went from RA1s to R888s in the same size and the R888's rub but the RA1's dont!
