Quote: So what's the purpose of the car? Obviously not to drag race or you would have a separate set of wheels on it for that purpose alone. Not quite sure how having 500rwhp makes any difference in regards to wheel size/selection in a luxury sedan that appears to be primarily street driven?

Look at TechArt Porsche's.. 20's. Novitec Ferrari's.. 20's.. Brabus Rocket has 19's but it also has ~720+bhp and is geared for top speed runs and needs the extra stability. Hamann's M5 has 21's!

I understand where you're coming from--having more sidewall. But there are a number of E55's on mbworld.org with 500-600rwhp+ rolling on 20" HRE's. Even with 19's traction from a WOT standstill is incredibly difficult, and these cars are much easier to manage from a rolling start.

At any rate, your car is definitely gorgeous and your modifications are very tasteful. I love the black grille and emblems, and the wheels look outstanding. Nice touch with the Vorsteiner diffuser also! I recall seeing a E55 very similar to yours on mbworld.org and he had the chrome trim around the vehicle painted black and it looked great. Thanks for letting me know about HMS--I have a friend locally with an 06 E55 and he will contact them about the grille and emblems.

Take care!
Brad
Brad,
Thanks for the compliments, and that other E55 your talking about is my friends car. The silver one with yellow brakes.
I understand what your saying, and before I had this car I had another W211 for four years. I had about 10 different sets of wheels on that car (wheel ***** ) , 19s and 20s, and IMO, at the end of the day, the best setup for the W211 is the 19" setup. Much more practical for a DD. I even managed to get a 1.7 60 foot with the 19s, and PS2 tires

Wow, 1.7's on the 19" HRE's with PS2's? Nice 60ft. Well, if the roads out where you are resemble the roads here any, I'm sure 20's would get damaged easily.

Keep us in the loop for future mods!

I think this is the perfect style for an AMG! How deep it the rear lip?
