That is one reliable method to determine which cars are selling and which one's are collecting dust on the lots.
I'm not surprise at all. Again, the economy has a lot to do with this.

The reasons Lexus is not selling the IS-F include but are not limited to the following:

1. Flashy and phony vents on the sides. I heard those are being eliminated in 2009!

2. Who created those fake ugly staked exhaust pipes? Stevie Wonder?

3. 371 lb ft of torque. My old 2005 C55 had more!

4. From what I read the 8 speed transmission blows! However, I did manage to drive the GS450H with a similar transmission and it felt like the gears changing on my 1974 10 speed schwinn bicycle.

When are car enthusiasts going to realize that Torque is for the street and horsepower is for the track???
As an owner of an IS-F I think I can make some comments.

1) Fake vents are on LOTS of cars as already mentioned earlier. I'm not into fake vents either, but at least it gives it a different styling cue than the regular IS350.

2) Hate the stacked pipe too.

3) It has more torque than the M3. Your C55 has forced induction.

4) The 8spd is fantastic. It shifts faster or as fast as a Ferrari F430. In sport mode it's very responsive.

I chose it over the M3 and C63 for the following reasons.

M3 - read about fuel pump problems.
C63 -poor gas mileage and amg models have really bad resale

The ISF was cheaper, has lexus reliability, lexus resale value, and in the real world non-pro driver scenario...is equal to the M3, and it also has a limited production run which makes it more rare.

^^^^^ Excellent points and totally agree with you. That is one amazing accomplishment by Lexus, to be able to virtually match the C63 and M3 in performance and still avoid the gas-guzzler tax and get decent gas mileage.

Please remember this is Lexus FIRST attempt at making a sport sedan to compete with BMW and Mercedes. BMW M3 first in 1986 and Mercedes AMG in 1995. I don't think anyone can say Lexus did a bad job in their first attempt.

Actually, Mercedes did it first with 190E 2.3-16 that debut in 1983. Although it wasn't AMG, it was the pioneer for the compact high performance saloon that started it all. It was co-developed with Cosworth with 185hp and a top speed of 143mph.

Here's a 1990 model:

The Evo model came later when the M3 debut in 1986, the Evo developed about 220hp.

I drove a IS-F on the track and I must say the 8 speed tranny is fantastic. Very quick on up and downshifts.

The interior is just a little to small for me plus the car is just plain ugly. Still fun to drive though.

I have read multiple reviews and articles stating that every single vent and scoop is functional including the stacked exhaust .C55 was not forced induction only the larger 55's were supercharged as well as the c32. As far as 4 seats go I had a cls55 and now an Isf the 4 seats was never an issue to me, I think it actually looks aggresive, however if one needs the extra seat I cant argue with that.

All 3 are great cars, m3 c63 and Isf, I chose Isf because I fell for its "different looks" and for performance, M3 has crappy breaks not much torque, still a great car.C63 looks way too much like a regular c class my teenage sister has a c300 sport that is almost identical, I know about the hood the valence the front fenders and bumper but its too similar. I still would not turn one down for the :right price" When I bought my isf back in May the c63 was impossible to get, I also think the new ctsv is awesome.
