Black Series and Reliability
Black Series..
Mine has almost 5K miles and no issues at all. The BS is overbuilt for most any driving one would put at it to include regular track use which it is set up for from the factory. I've not seen any at $70K like another poster mentioned, but perhaps these are high mile examples. As seemingly indestructable as the car seems, I am never a fan of buying higher mileage supercars with multiple owners and firmly believe paying a premium for the best car (particular cars of this type) will be the least expensive car in the end. I bought my first BS new at $131K (list price was $138K), sold it at $115K about 6 months later (it's just what I do). A year laster, I bought the one I now own used with 1400 miles for $85K. A screaming bargain in my opinion for a very exclusive supercar.
- 4 on eBay
- 2 on cars.com
- 11 on autotrader
I too have a BS which I've owned for 2+ years and a year ago there were two or three times this many for sale. Lately values have stabilized after actually rising a bit. A 5800 mile car just sold locally for $85k. I just don't see the market going to $60k unless there is a story or super high miles...... Haven't seen any for $70k either.

Two on ebay going for 79k and 76k (place bid price). You can't determine Ebay final pricing because it's an auction so it's a little tricky.

these are probably performing in the used market like other high end cars...they've taken a huge hit the past year or two and are now priced around where things will trade. i don't ascribe to the theory that prices will now turn around and head higher, but at least things that are priced well are selling now. the two on ebay look to be priced in the 'reasonable' range.....go for it!!
You might try some of the Mercedes model specific boards for more owner feedback. I don't think you'll find anything negative regarding reliability issues with the CLK63 BS.
The car is bullet proof based on those who have tracked extensivly. I have over 2k track miles without any incidents. It was designed to be driven to the circuit raced and driven home, and it does that quite well with no warranty penalties like porsche.
The two issues that owners have found, the paddle shifter may become intermittent and the factory has an updated replacement under warranty. Secondly, the ebrake release may malfunction due to heat build up on a cable cover. That too has been updated.
The prices are firming up as the cars are getting into the hands of the worthy so I wouldn't wait too long.

I have owned my BS since new for a little over 2 years and have put 19k miles on my car as my DD with 0 reliability issues. Service "A" at 10k miles cost me $262.
