Break in
Break in
Is it necessary? Just bought a 2010 E63.
According to manual, during the first 1000 miles we have to avoid: more than 4500rpm / 100mph , kick down, full throttle, engine braking.
Does the engine has been dynoed before it's installed in the chassis, also the car has been tested on track?
Is the break in important for engine, or others: trans, tyres, brakes?
I read before that we have to drive the car hard in the first 100 km for proper bedded piston ring in the cylinder.

I would be very inclined to follow AMG's recommendations. There was a local acquaintence of mine that ignored the AMG break in routine on his new C63 and is now paying the price. The thing uses oil like crazy and he's having trouble convincing the dealer that it's not his doing.
Break it in properly, then go like hell.

Its not about him ignoring the break-in. The c63 just uses A LOT of oil. I did the whole break-in process and i have to give it oil all the time. Thats just the way the car is.
