Bindas is infamous around these parts
2003 sl 55 amg

I have two problems:

1) A rattle coming from the roof - rear, right ( passenger side) -- no noise when the top is down, but very annoying when in hardtop mode-- MB have never been able to fix it;

2) The driver's side seat and seat belt have started squeaking, loudly, with even slight movements.

I bought the car new in 2003 and love it's performance and handling- but MB have been hopeless with the two complaints above-- any suggestions?

The top gaskets sound like they need to be lubed. They will squeak as the car flexes. Mercedes sells a grease for top seals which works well.

Getting any lube on the seat rails or seat belts is a chore, Aside from removing the seat and disassembling the seat belt retractor assembly, a careful application of a spray lube like a light lithium grease might help. Spraying in and around the seat belt mechanics will be tricky. You might have to mask off some areas. Good luck with the problems - sometimes the hi-tech cars require some really low-tech fixes -- the kind that dealers don't like to bother with.
