Leaving a '11 Cayman S for '12 C63 coupe?
Leaving a '11 Cayman S for '12 C63 coupe?
I've had a 2011 Porsche Cayman S for 18 months, and I'm thinking of putting it on swapalease.com and picking up a '12 C63 AMG coupe. Anyone driven both and have some comparisons?
I like the Cayman a lot, but the lack of interior space is wearing on my some and it's a little rough of a ride for a daily driver (I drive around 15k miles a year).
I'm thinking the C63 coupe may be a good solution with the larger interior and back seats, and it doesn't hurt that it's significantly faster (maybe not around a road course, but that doesn't concern me as much as every day speed, such as acceleration and minor twisties).
Any suggestions? I know I need to test drive the C63 coupe, but I'm having a hard time finding them in the dealers.
Thanks!

The Cayman, as you know, is a little small inside, though handles significantly better.
I have a C63 Coupe ('12) with the Perf Pack, and the thrust is intoxicating. It's not the smoothest riding car though...I'm not sure the ride quality is any better than the Cayman S. At least on already bumpy roads (here in Toronto).
I love my C63, but I will admit, it's largely for the thrust and the noise. It has some significant drawbacks should you ever take it to the road-course, as it WILL go into limp mode after 2 or 3 laps due to high oil / tranny temps.
The new MCT 7-speed transmission is pretty good as a hybrid slushbox / manumatic. No torque-converter, so it feels more like a manual gearbox than flappy-paddles on a true automatic. It's also prone to being a little fussy when it's first cold (jerky shifts, slipping clutch, etc), though all those issues go away after warming up.
The biggest problem I have with the C63 is that it encourages hooligan-like behaviour (in me, anyway).
I do agree that the C63 sedan is better looking than the coupe, but I still think the coupe is a pretty decent looking car.
