RS5 or CLK63 Black Series?
I still don't understand... Who cares how rare a car is, when determining how a car feels, drives, looks, etc...?
Also - how many Black Series AMG's are people tripping over in Orange County?
I doubt it is many. You might see a lot of Mercedes, but you will also see a lot of A5's/S5's (I know I do).

Personally I wouldn't do either.
The BS drives great but I can tell that the car is dated.
I drove the RS5 and it really didn't wow me. I felt the same way when the RS4 came out and I cross shopped it with the M3, the car just underwhelmed me and I was ready to spend the cash.
Have you driven the C63 coupe black series? Now that car is just plain nasty. It begs to be driven hard.

i probably see a B.S. here in orange county at least 1 or 2 times a week. newport beach has more MB's per capita than any city outside of germany. i have yet to see any RS5 on the road. actually, other than fabryce, and myself, i don't know of any others. 1,200 cars is VERY low production. that's like Z3 M Coupe territory, and suffice it to say those cars are collectors items now which sell for VERY close to what they cost new, today, 10 years later. will the RS5 become a collectors item? doubtful. but it's simple economics. supply and demand. there are simply more buyers than sellers/cars available for the RS5 right now. look on ebay... there is one. look on 6speed... there is one, a base model, used, asking MSRP. and the car came out in july... not last week. i know there are better cars than the RS5, i'm not here to defend my purchase. but hopefully this gives a little insight as to the "why?" of the RS5.
who cares? well... i don't think it's silly to hope that your car retains the most value over time. i know cars are depreciating objects (i hesitate to even use the word "asset"), but still. it's a factor.

Examples:
Noble - however rare, would NEVER want to own one (maintenance nightmare, or garage queen, simply because of accessibility to parts, etc...)
Phaeton - Ha! We'll stop there.
My point is, although rarity may keep car value high, I'd hope it wouldn't steer a person one way or the other about how a car feels during the period of ownership.
In fact, because my wife keeps seeing Porsches, she keeps getting tempted to buy another one. So rarity is two-edged.
