SL500 or SLK55?

A lot depends on how you plan to use the car. Both have a retractable roof. The SLK55 is a stinking quick little sports car and handles really good. The SL500 is more luxurious and makes a great grand touring car.

Maybe this pic will help. The black SLK55 is stock, with tint. Other one has a lot of Kleeman parts. You can get a used SL55 AMG for just a bit more than a new SLK55. My dealer just had an 04 with less than 4000 miles on it, asking low 80s.

Personally I think the SLK55 is a lot more fun than the SL500. SL is a great cruiser so as mentioned before - depends on what you want. Apples and oranges.

I had an SLK32, loads of fun. Done a little autox in a SLK55, more loads of fun and a good V8 sound. The SLK55 is the most tossable AMG there is at the moment and it will rip to 60 VERY quickly. If you get a used SL55 make sure it is a certified one, better warranty. A quick search of cars.com had a lot of 04 and 05s with low mileage. Price was not a lot higher than the SL500s. If you get the SL55 you can also add a Kleeman K2 to it a year later for not a lot of money. Modding the SLK55 for more power will take a lot of $$$

My dad rocks a sl600, we have been taking it on a lot of road trips lately its a awsome GT. If you want a toy to throw around I would get the slk55 black edition its supposed to be pretty sweet.
If you are 30+ get the sl because I feel like a old person driving a really small car just looks retarded.
