Bluetooth integration, latemodel Benz

If anyone is wondering about Bluetooth, just installed the MHI Bluetooth adapter into the E63, took about 10 minutes to get it running, very easy plug and play, works like a charm with Cingular RAZR phone - phonebook included.

Long Beach MBZ had no clue what I was on about enquiring about bluetooth...scary. They wanted to sell me some $750 item which was not the part below.

The bluetooth part number is B67875839 and is a MBZ part, $350, ordered from Auto Wireless Solutions who is the official retailer of the part for MBZ. Plugs into existing wiring (if your car is equipped) in the center console.

I have the bluetooth adapter in my GL450 and it works great with RAZRs but make sure you check compatibility with other phones, especially PDA phones. When using most PDA phones, you don't get signal strength displayed on the nav screen, phone numbers don't load into the car's phone list, and recent outgoing/incoming calls aren't retained as well. This is pretty much the case for most PDA phones including the Cingular 8125, Treos, Blackberrys. With Razr's, the integration is flawless.

Mercedes has "approved" certain phones, not every RAZR is gauranteed to work in addition to having the right model phone the software inside the phone is just as important.

The blackberry 7250, 7290 and 7100g with the approved software will work. The new Moto Q phone currently with verizon is also approved of course if it has the right software. None of the treo phones have been "approved" by Mercedes.

IMO based on what I have read on MB forums, most bluetooth phones will work, whether or not they will work with all of the features is the question. I have used a RAZR that is not on the list and I was told it would not work but it works flawlessly. In fact, I was told by someone at Wireless Solutions that if I even tried to use my RAZR that it would void my MB warranty because it was not an approved phone. What kind of crap is that? The Cingular 8125 works perfectly but once again, some valuable features are lost.

Our contract with MB USA requires that we only recommend and sell approved handsets with approved software. Without MB certifiication there is no way to ensure compatibility with MB vehicles and eligibility for warranty services. MB testing gaurantees that their will be no instability or intermittent issues with the system, which is the biggest problem with unapproved phones/software. Unapproved handsets and software may work perfectly for a short while but all of a sudden stop working, problems such as this would stem from the phone itself and not what most customers would blame; the vehicle.

Lucas, so what do I exactly need to get setup for bluetooth?
I have a CLS 55, I do not have the factory phone option.

Does your center armrest have a little square black piece with a electrical connector under it? If it does, check your manual or call Lucas, you probably have bluetooth capability and just need to purchase the puck. The 2007 CLSs show the bluetooth puck as an available accessory. Once you get the bluetooth puck, you sync it to your phone just like a bluetooth headset and after that, it will auto sync everytime you get into the car with that particular phone. You can sync multiple phones as well.

Robert, this is what I found, thre is a wire underneath, you can see it, but I tried pulling it out, and it feels likes its attached to something. The Teleaid does work though.

Kevin, it's not looking too good. You need to have the MB Hands-Free Communication System in your car to use the Bluetooth puck or any phone cradle for that matter. It looks to me like you might have the wiring for the system but you didn't get the option on your car so it doesn't have the full install. Here is a pic of the Bluetooth puck in my GL450 and a picture of the connector underneath the puck.

According to the MB website, your 2006 CLS55 was available with the MB Hands-Free Communication System and it is compatible with the Bluetooth puck. You should check with your dealership to see if you can order the parts and retrofit the car. I know that if anyone can do the install, you certainly can! The only question is whether or not the car needs a software flash to recognize the system. If you can do it, def go for it. It works pretty well and the convenience is well worth the effort. Sound quality is not as good as my Lexus system but it beats holding a phone or using one of those ridiculous bluetooth earpieces.

Thanks for the info Robert, If I recall it was a $1200 option on the car. I didn't think it was worth it, but I thought maybe the puck would work in its place. Thanks for your help.

Give Gert @ Carnewal a call and see if he can get some info on a retrofit. He might be able to get the parts you need or at least have some info. I can't see you passing up a potential mod.
