it should be great considering it won motortrends SUV of 2007 award. My dads got an 06' ML350 and its a great truck incomparison with the old W163's(which were horrid). He was looking into the GL but he only uses the truck to drive back and forth from work (about a 45 min commute) and he has to park on the streets of brooklyn so it was better for him to get the smaller truck.

I love the GL in black on black with some 22", saw one the other day.

Took delivery a few hours ago. Obviously still excitted, but really like it. Drives, handles great, tranny is silky smooth. Brakes seem a bit touchy. I'll keep you guys posted, Bryan at Caliber is also great, incase anyone's local.

I leased a GL450 about a month ago. Still have the paper tag. I was not excited about the car at all, I bought it for my wife. The more I drive it the more I like it. The Thanksgiving road trip down south was very comfortable. I am even getting used to the rear end looks.

FYI My lease on a 69,000 dollar sticker with 3600 total out of pocket is 1000 inc tax for 27 months 15000 miles a year. Not sure if that is a good deal but 27 months will be here before I know it.

I really, really like it. 7-speed is very smooth, very responsive. Would like a Sport and Comfort mode though. My buddy has a CLS with this ability, had it on my E55. Ride is great, soaks up the rough stuff. Love Sirius, much, much better than XM. Seats could have more adjustment. Lumbar is a pump on the side, that sucks. Head rests are manual. Haven't figured out how to play the DVD audio through the sound system, kids are going to bug for that. I've driven the car for only 100 miles or so. It's my wife's, but I've got to tell you. I'm thinking I want to go look at an ML for me as a DD, can't justify two GL's.

Will drive much more this weekend, I'll keep you posted.

The headrests are powered not manual, there should be a little headrest adjuster above the seatback adjuster on the side of each seat. If you have the dual screen DVD player, you press "Audio" on the Command system and then push the little button next to the screen next to "Aux". If you have the add-on center armrest mounted flip up DVD screen, I think that it does not play through the audio system.

I forgot to mention. I had a SRS failure light come on the other day so I took it in this week and also told them that it had a intermittent rough 2-1 downshift. They fixed the SRS issue and told me that the tranny was very low on fluid! A maintenance free tranny with no dipstick and it was underfilled at the factory! Might want to get the level checked.

Yes, Caliber in Anaheim. Discovered the Audio, Aux yesterday, thanks for the heads up. I must be an idiot about the head rests, I'll have to look again when I get home tonight.

Thanks,

Mike

I posted this on MBworld. We just traded in our ML55 last week on a GL. Here are my initial thoughts:

1. The GL is a night and day improvement (in every way) over the ML.
2. The ride is not choppy (truck like). Very smooth, but not floaty. Especially on the highway. Obviously it is not as stiff as the 55 but it handles well.
3. The turning radius is just as good as the ML.
4. Parking the GL has taken some getting use to. The Parktronic is helpful. I would recommend the review camera option.
5. The interior is absolutely beautiful & comfy. Seats are perfect. Even the 3rd row. Go for the sunroof option.
6. Performance. This surprised me. The GL will out brake and is just as quick if not quicker than the 55. Granted it does not have the torque that the 55 had but the motor pulls hard in the upper rpms and the 7 speed tranny makes sure it is in its power band. Big thumbs up on the 7 speed.
7. Gas mileage (so far) has been +2-3 miles better than the 55.

MB did a great job on this (dare I say) "truck". Highly recommend.

Go drive one.

Now I just need to find time for Arling to do some mods to the 55 and the GL!!!!

funny u show that pic... 1st i thought that's grussell's cars. even the background looks like it.

just received 2008 gl450 - terms: 15K miles per year, 33 month lease, 67K sticker (prem pack and entertainment setup) = $2100 down - 870 per month. I think from my understanding that this is a really good deal. Feedback please
