Anyone know if you can just add sat radio by calling mercedes benz? It's my friends b-day and he has a 06 g55, and he's been wanting sat radio, but I dont know if you would need a module to install it. Or can I just call benz and pay for it and have it activated?

He has gps on it and the button that says SAT but is that enough?

 

I recently activated mine in my S550 sport, you need your Radio ID, which is found either in your "welcome package" or in the settings menu of the radio itself.

 

Almost all of them have the SAT button, I previously had a G500, and it said SAT but there was no module, you likely have to get the hardware installed as well. Sorry.

 

if he doesnt have the antenna installed then he'll need that done at the dealership, otherwise all you have to do is activate it online with the radio code
