it sounds like the classic ic pump failure. it will not store any codes when they go to check so hopefully your service dept knows this problem. it is common for this to happen. tell them to change your i/c pump for a new one and problem solved. this will become even a bigger problem when you add the ASP or evotech so make sure you get this fixed first and realy should get the I/C upgrade.

Yeah, if the IC pump isnt pushing enough, the everything heats up too much, and the supercharger shuts off to prevent stuffing the engine with a bunch of hot air, which will cause problems. Thankful for electro-magnetic clutch superchargers!

If you are thinking to modify the SL make sure you get the Pulley kit from VRUS and either an evosport or renntech cooling mod otherwise the s/c would shut at upper rpms.

If you plan to keep modding an aftermarket cooling kit is a must. The worst feeling in the world is having the blower shut-down while you are running someone.

It's really surprising that you have an E55 and haven't experienced the IC pump failure yet.

Same symptoms as your SL, all the 55K IC pumps fail, CLS, E, CL, S, all of 'em.

So will a new stock pump fix the problem, or do you have to upgrade it? Is there a way to do it without spending 3 or 4k? I saw mention of a marine pump. What does that cost, and does it fix the issues? I'm thinking of doing a pulley, but I just want cheap hp. If I'm going to run into problem after problem, I'll just leave it stock.

The stock pump fixed mine, then I added the ASP pulley and haven't had a problem yet. Of course it's only been 100 for the past 5 days but I haven't had 1 sc shut down in 8 months. The stock pump is 2 or 300 including labor.

With all the problems with the IC pump what mod can be done to prevent this from happening? Will the aftermarket pulleys void the factory warranty's.

Evo has a kit for 2.5k or so, phenolic spacers, PTE thermostat, -10c fan setting, there are more. Search the E55 board http://mbworld.org/forums/forumdispl...ysprune=5&f=81

Heck yes.
You're spinning the s/c 10 to 20% faster than the OEM pulley, why wouldn't they deny that claim?
Unless of course they didn't notice the different pulley. That is entirely possible.

I had my IC pump replaced and they never mentioned the pulley and my dealer is not mod friendly. I believe they didn't notice it.

I worry about that too. Meh, it's a simple case of risk vs reward, right?

I do not. Of coarse I'm a shut in that has no friends to speak of, and very little contact with the outside world. Thank God I'm an internet badass!
