I just got a D300 yesterday and it's a great camera.

Have you tried looking at your local craigslist? You just might be able to find one there.

I would love to hear your thoughts about going from the D2X to the D300. Do you miss the D2X?

I also have the D3 too. I sold the D2x to get the D300 as a travel lens to be used with a 18-200mm VR lens. After using it for a few days, I found that it's definitely a marked change from the pro "D" line from Nikon. For openers it's smaller, the button layout is different and the biggest surprise is that the shutter sensitivity is nowhere as good as both the D2x and D3. I have to push the shutter button a bit further to get it to react. I suppose I'll get used to that before too long.

It also feels "lighter" in my hands too.
