PCA Meetings?

Are any of you guys in PCA? I haven't been to any events in a long time and I was thinking about doing this tonight?

http://pcachs.org/meetings/monthly_meeting.html

Date: Second Thursday of each month.
The next meeting is November 8.

Time: 7:00 PM

Location: - Kelsey's Restaurant in Ellicott City. [google map]

Contact: Ken Bullough at

Info: The club meets for dinner, Porsche talk, bench racing, etc. on the second Thursday of each month. We have a new site for the monthly social for the next 3 months. I've been to this restaurant many times over the years and trust me, the food is outstanding. There's plenty of parking.

Here's the site info:

Kelsey's
8480 Baltimore National Pike
Ellicott City, MD 21043
410-418-9076
www.KelseysRestaurant.com

Watch the site for updates or subscribe to the PCACHS Email List using the online form. We hope to see you at the next meeting!

You should have come... We had 16 people and had a GREAt time... These take place the 2nd Thursday of every month... I rotate them to different restaurants around the region every 3 months... I'm looking for a place in the Towson area starting in January...

You should make the tour tomorrow... There will be over 50 Porsches... Here's a link to more information: http://www.pcachs.org/rally_and_tour...endlyfarm.html

Hope to see you at some PCA events...

I totally disagree but then again Gina and I are members of the PCA Chesapeake Region even though we live in the Potomac Region... Our involvement in the PCA events has greatly enhanced our Porsche experience... The friends we have made are long-term...

We take part in events such as Autocross, DE, Club Racing (spectators), Tours, Rallys and social activities... We were recently in Hilton Head and attended a Porsche Club breakfast there and had a blast meeting people...

You will get out of the club what you put into it... I enjoy getting together once in a while with the 6speeders but the club environment is much different and not meant for everyone...

In Atlanta it's a bunch of old guys driving 914's who talk like they have a CGTs

I don't know about their track days; I call the DAY their publication hits my mailbox and they are always full. I suspect that they are full when they are booked and that they just send it out to conform with the rules. It seems to be a "click" of guys; I'm on the outside looking in... The good news is that there are ton's off good track events in the SE...

I am a member for the magazine...

exactly the same here...old farts with old pcars. We get the local "der vorganger" or whatever its called about 3 or 4 weeks after everything in it has already happened. Plus, our local PCA track events suck...lots of talking about 9/10ths, or 8/10ths, and way too many rules. If you like the track, try going out with the local ferrari club. Much more fun group.

PCA imo is a bunch of old guys. Never really have had a good time at a event. It's been a while since I have been to a PCA meeting but everytime I go I ask myself what in the HELL am I doing here. Could be fun depending on the chapter.

I'll restate that the club environment is not for everyone... I guess I qualify for being one of those OLD GUYS... But, even at my OLD AGE I realize that the older generation has a lot they can teach me...

When I find someone that says "The PCA it made up of a bunch of OLD GUYS and it's boring", I say to them, GET INVOLVED, EFFECT CHANGE, BE A LEADER... I've hired 1000's of employees in my life and the curse of death in an interview is when an employee exhibits that same "Me Generation" attitude... I tell perple that are members "It's Your Club" so make things happen, don't sit around and mope saying this club's not for me... Be a part of something and contribute, instead of being a taker...

Would I rather be involved in structured activities with an established organization with legitimate activities covered by insurance... HELL YES! I have a family to protect (5 kids and a grandson)...

So for me... I'm happy attending PCA events and meeting people from ALL walks of life young and old and being part of something... Most of all, I enjoy making a difference... I do not age discriminate as everyone has value...

The picture below is from the tour on Sunday... 75 people, over 40 cars and an EXTREMELY diverse group of people age and backgrounds...

Now Dave just **** a lot of people off.

One thing I like about Ferrari Club track day is food. Those boys know how to order food for sure. Also heard about PCA track events very hard to get in.

It is true about the PCA track events getting booked up fast... Especially around here with the Ptomac Region...

The Chesapeake Region will now have 2 DE events in 2008 plus a club race... We are really stepping up to the plate and adding a broad spectrum of events... We are trying to have something for each of our members...

I tend to agree with you about the Ferrari Club and food...

That's true, but I've seen the way you and your wife drive your cars......J/K

I agree with you that you get what you put into the club/event/job/etc. The issue I think that is raised is as always, the magazine comes out to get me excited about a PCA HPDE only to find out it has been booked for weeks if not months. What the heck is the point of that then? They should set up more events and to get more participation, then they should maybe limit people to one track day per year (so everyone gets a chance at least once) until they can start to fulfill the large demand for people wanting to attend the event with more events in the year. There is of course a great deal people can learn from each other from diverse backgrounds and age groups/experiences. I completely agree. That's why 6speedonline.com is also a great place to meet people as well as other local forums that we co-mingle with. I've met many great people here and through other clubs/forums and am sure will meet many more the larger our region grows w/ members.

The one thing, regardless of how all of our opinions may differ, is that we all have a love for the "SPORT". That's one thing we can all agree upon.

I LOVE YOU ALL.......*****ES!!!!!

Bull - I'm going to try to attend one of your meets again. While it's a trek and sometimes I think we are going to die/get arrested, they are fun!!! Keep up the great work in the Chesapeake brother.

Berk
