I had one on my NA 996 and it blew out a MAF. I would suggest washing out the filter before the install. Apparently the filter oil is what causes them to blow. They sounds pretty awesome above 3.5k rpm

Berk - MAFs are like 250 and take about 5 minutes to install. They are real sensitive to oils and such. so wash out and dry it good. Its hit or miss some had them go some didnt.

Mario- Its my newest project, when you spend 3 days in jail with 87 more hanging over your head, all of the sudden having a porsche is a liability. Anyway its a project gives me something to work on with out costing a fortune. Its fun to drive it around and until this court crap blows over. BTW - your car is looking really nice!

I run an open K&N in my Cobra with great success. Of course, when you do the air, you usually do exhaust or something else to accomodate the added air flow.

Good luck and I want to know if you feel and/or hear a difference.

^^Hey Scott, thanks for the input, as for exhaust, I'm going to stick with the muffler bypass pipes......is that a bad idea???? I take it this won't accomodate the added air flow, or does it help b/c it's more free flow????

I'll def give you guys my thoughts on the butt dyno/sound difference, but want to double check first if the bypass pipes on it now are a bad idea....I LOVE THE SOUND already, so if this K&N will give MORE SOUND, even better....hahahhaa

^^^Evo makes a nicer one but I have read more issues with blown MAF's with the EVO's then the K&N's. Please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Plus, the EVO's cost 2x as much......

Hey Berk, Air kit and exhausts don't usually call for tunes, upgrades, etc. They only tempt you to take the next step. In the P world it gets costly. In my Cobra I went from 390hp to 618hp for a mere $5,000. The exhaust I want to upgrade to on the P costs $3,900. The tune I want to get to only 550hp will cost me $3,000. When you get bit by the mod bug, good luck. It's very hard to stop.

Berk, I don't know that it would be worth the potential problem with the oil from the filter. I cleaned my filter (My car came with a K&N) and ended up blowing my MAFS. I'm a real big fan of the paper filter...Of course, I still have the K&N in the stock airbox.

Berk,

Get with me if you want some details and a much cheaper price on K&Ns for your car.

I am pretty sure all MAFs are made about the same and all that is needed (if a little oil residue collects on the maf sensor) is a little brake cleaner and you're back in business. Then again maybe I am missing something.
