They want to make sure you can afford the car and aren't just taking it for a joy ride. Doesn't matter what you show up in or how you're dressed. For most dealerships, it's company policy (I used to work for Len Stoler Ford and they had a Porsche dealership too...same rules about the credit check).

I'll park my Fit diagonally across 2 spaces and tell them I want to drive a GT2RS and won't leave until they find me one

It may be 'company policy' but is rarely practiced... As others have said, would you really want your credit checked 12 times over the course of a couple weeks checking out cars? - At the end of the day its easy to tell how you've been treated. It's true in any form of customer service... To the good ones YOU are doing them a favor, to others THEY are the ones doing you a favor. It's true from Hamburgers to GT2's. It's sad how hard it's becoming these days to find good sales reps that are truly passionate about the business and not just in it for a paycheck at the end of the day. When thats the case you might as well be a walking dollar sign to them.

Sorry about your experience Burk, at the end of the day the best thing you can do is take your business elsewhere.

IMO any dealership any day any time you can get a real ******* you're dealing with. Well documneted factoid, car salesmen are second least trusted profession in America... behind of course atty.s.

HBL is a Penske dealership and they do sell far more cars than any other midAtlantic dealership. Which I guess doesn't say much for customer service... but I do know Sir Penske is / or at least was in very deep with the Porsche fold..... not the least - world debuting the RS Spyder with him in ALMS.

I think GM Mike T. is gone now..... another good car dealership soap opera story. Glen from Ferrari of Wash. is a service mgr. there now I believe, but maybe just Audi not sure.

Credit check is complete bullsh1t. I'd walk in with my Bank statement and tell then "I've got cash" and don't need any damn credit. Either show me the car or they can stick the credit report..... and the car... up their ***.

Rockville has a GT3RS. Doesn't have PCCB's if I recall. Looks a lot like Al's 3RS

White on White???

Personally, I can't imagine buying a white car (white being the absence of color!), but white on white sounds simply awful. All that combination needs is someone in a 'full Cleveland' get-up (cranberry pants, white belt, white shoes, etc.) to complete the package...

Dealt with Nooch both times I went in there. Nicest salesman I have ever seen, very low key, doesn't pressure you at all. He just kinda walked around and chatted with me while I was browsing. First time, my friend and I showed up in his old Accord, checked out a few Caymans/Boxsters, then as it was about to rain, Nooch took us inside and got us both coffee. The other time we went in my beat up Jeep, and within 5 minutes, we were on a test drive of an almost new A3 and going on his "Porsche test drive road" haha. During the test drive, he kept getting calls from his daughter about getting ready for some party they were having that night, and he kept yelling at her that he was with a client. I felt bad because I didn't mind at all, but it showed he was serious about his work.

If looking for a used car, definitely ask for him.

I've been to Rockville a few times to look around, including going with my gf who wanted to buy an Audi (dad was loaded), and not a single salesman ever came outside the showroom.

agreed...the white on white did not sit well with me but there was nice accents of white in the interior of both cars that really looked good. I personally think gunmetal wheels would have been the ticket

I'll leave the white suit home!

I had a similar situation recently. Being a Canadian it wouldn't have shown anything anyway.

"we'd like to run a credit check 1st sir",

"No need" I responded

"Oh so you've spoken to you bank already sir?"

"Why, I usually don't need to notify them when I write cheques."

"oh..."
