2012 C & C - Great Falls, VA - Katie's

A Slow Saturday At Katie's, 02/11/12
People often ask when this gathering stops for the year. I tell them it really has no 'start' nor 'end' date anymore - people bring their cars out when they want to. If the roads aren't wet, cars will show up. If it's not bitterly cold, turnout will be pretty good.
Today, a couple of items conspired to keep the cars, and most of the people, away. First, the roads were salted in anticipation of the predicted snow. Many regulars with exotics are not anxious to subject their chassis to salt spray. (Full disclosure - I didn't drive my Lotus, either.) While the snow did arrive as predicted, none accumulated on the roads. The roads were slightly damp. This combination, this week, resulted in a very light turnout of interesting cars. No less than 10 enthusiatic regulars brought their daily drivers, and stayed inside by the fire to talk cars.
Mark my words, though - a large number of regulars have gotten used to their weekly automotive fix, year-round. I predict that, barring heavy salt and real precipitation, next week will see the return of a good number of interesting vehicles.

Hello,
I'll introduce myself properly with a dedicated post, but since I am planning to attend this tom AM, I was wondering if there is someone driving up from the Alexandria/Arlington area.
Looking forward to this and to connect with fellow enthusiasts.

Can't help you with the cruise, but I'll look for you. What will you be in?

My latest project is a 72 Torino, it has a (not) fancy matte black paint so it's pretty easy to spot. And it's 16 feet too

Clear and dry this morning - and the salt had been washed away by the rain this week. That, plus the light showings the last week or two led to a very good turnout today.
Two of us were there by 6:30AM - me in my Elise, and Marshall in his Porsche.
The lot at 7:30AM.
The dealer brought a Ferrari FF.
Jamie from the Lotus dealership drove a silver Evora.
The owner of the Fisker Karma had order it back in October 11, and picked it up from Ted Britt the night before.
