The National G Club (g35s) rolls hard to this 60-75 cars deep. We usually get a few rows of parking each year and have a tent with gobbs of food!

more than welcome to join up.

IF YOU DO NOT GET THERE BEFORE 1045 AM it will take you over 2 hours to get in. DO NOT BE LATE, Actually be early, as to you can always leave but getting in after 1130/12 is fruitless IMO!

I work with one of the guys who started the first one of these. lol small world.

[rant]So you continue their profit loss by not attending this year or bring friends? When I feel bad, like hungry children, I usually dedicate more time and resources at the loss, not withdrawl.

Just sayin

If you understood what happened last year, you will clearly see the growing pains of growth and expansion. Old College Park was too small. Normal processes at venue A: known, predictable, relationship, understanding of how large it is... however it did not correspond with new, larger, venue B: unknow, unpredictable, no relationship, no personal past performance, not clue of the size of the event in real life.

This is by far the biggest car meet/show/event in our area... its almost tradition for me to go.

Being a vendor (having been one, not at college park meets yet) is a risk in itself.
Sorry, but with your approach, its an even greater risk! Especially if more people not attend due to your similar belief and practices!

I literally saw a truck bust a Uturn carrying a car coming of I95. Got off exit, swung around, went south. I thought Hmmm. Got to my location checked the forums, meet cancelled. Plates were not VA, maybe NC, or SC..red and white tags.

I relate everything to cars. So I guess GoDaddy and Danica P should stop racing since they hit the wall in Daytona 500 on a practice lap? No, they kept going and ended up getting the pole position. But then, she got knocked out of the race on lap two at Daytona. Two cars in one race! Should they not race again?

Shizzil happens man and to be honest it was poor planning but not from their experience with College Park. Poor planning on expecting the same results from a previous experience is where things went wrong.

In the end we live to fight another day.

Support the vendors man, your passion for cars, and come out with us?

It really is the largerst mixed automanufacturer gathering around this area on yearly basis.

[/rant]

Please dont take my post as me yelling at your or being a jackazz. Im just saying by not going youre still hurting the vendors, that you seem to take compassion for. Sort of "off" way of thinking. You not attending is hurting the ones you care the most about.

my two cents, which you didnt ask for. I just have some cycles at work. lol, I did work Sat and Sunday though too.

*edit*
This is my opinion, I do not know any of the "current" CPMeet people nor to I associate with them, so take my post as my words not reflective of their opinions. This is just what I gathered from my personal experiences with the CPMeet.

One of the reasons we raised the price to $2 was to make up a bit for what we didn't get last year.
If you want to guarantee a spot this year e-mail us as a group and pay $3 per car. Its still 10x cheaper than any other meet.

I'm assuming this is venue b in your writing. Which is unknown to most people at CP probably, but not unknown to me. It is slightly predicatable with the numbers expected and realistic capacity of the lot. And there has been a similar, but smaller scale, event held there that nearly failed completely due to traffic and it wasn't nearly the size of what's expected for the CP meet.

There's a couple issues that I can see why people may not attend. Maybe it's just my point of view from doing events at the Bowie lot the past 5 years and also seeing a near complete disaster with a very similar event to this CP meet held there just 2 years ago.

The lot, according to the OP, has approx 2000 spots. Previous CP meets had higher numbers than that right? It seems like expectations could meet or severly exceed the parking spot numbers. And there's no where else for people to park. There will already probably be what, 500(?) or so cars parking in the dirt/gravel/possibly mud overflow lot. I'm sure those with dumped cars or high end exotics or custom painted cars will be thrilled.

You said that the G35 club may caravan with ~70 cars. The intersection and Ballpark Road on a normal weekend has traffic jams. Having 70 cars trying to come in at the same time will be a cluster f**k. And that's just one club... Try multiple caravans at once.. To make things even worse, I assume CP will be backing up traffic even more by receiving the entry fee/canned food from each car coming in through the gates. Yikes.

Eventually when cars park, people will be walking around crowding and blocking traffic. Finding a parking spot and getting cars in and out of the lot quick will not come easy.

Another thing I just thought of, the event is supposed to start at 12. But I'm sure people will try to beat the rush and get there at like 10am. Which if they won't let people in will cause more traffic.

I'm all for this meet and would like to go, esp since it's for charity. I just have a feeling the CP people organizing this may not understand fully what could, and likely will, happen at this venue. Even expecting half of the numbers that previous years had, this could be a serious mess. If traffic gets bad enough on 301 at that intersection or if enough of the public/neighbors complain, the police may even have to shut this down for safety reasons..

^^^^ WOW according to your well thought out analysis this event is doomed to be a cluster f*&k ... you broke it down very nicely, with attention to detail and timing.

I have a conflicting event that day more than likely, but for those of you attending this meet have fun & be safe, hopefully it wont be a disaster and logistaical nightmare.

lol I really hope I'm wrong cuz I want to go. But it seems like at the very least it'll be a very bumpy road for the event. If organization isn't 100% there, it will get screwed and people will be pissed.

Unfortunately you are probably right, you think things thru and process info logically, you look at factors and analyse options and possibilities. There is a link between autoxing effectively and being able to deduce information effectively. Only difference is in a times motorsport event such as autox or track the sampling rate for info processing is quicker, here your deductive reasoning still played into it, but you had more time to analyse the inevitable cluster f*ck that is likely to take place.

I will be going to Britian on the green, one of the largest british car shows...where they will most likely have more sprawling lawn space than cars, have a lot of Rolls, Bentleys, Astons, Jags, MG, Wollsley, Sprites, etc...etc.. and cool vintage cars, and the average age will be...well old! Tea and crumpets anyone lol hahaha!!

There is also another lot behind the trees at the stadium on Governor Bridge Road. It's very well hidden and usually not kept up very well (grass growing through cement, etc). Will this lot be available too?

Ok, the answer is that in our contract it doesn't explicitly say we can use that lot. So I would assume we cannot use it. I do not think however that anybody will stop you from parking there.

^ That lot is also not paved, it's dirt/gravel. That lot is also gated off with one entrance/exit. If you guys aren't contracted for it's use, I'm sure the gate will be kept closed.

I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my car parked there to walk over through the woods to the main parking lot/stadium anyways lol.

Off topic but when some of us CPT people went to autocross we saw your car there. We were amazed at how fast you were.
