New Porsche Owner

Hey everybody just picked up my first Porsche. It's a 2008 with 29k miles 6 speed manual. I'm coming from the M world and BMW community so I am looking forward to meeting local Porsche guys in the Mid Atlantic who can share their knowledge with me about these cars!

Also if there aren't very many Porsche owners on here could somebody recommend me to a forum for Porsche's? I've searched and found some but I don't know which forums are good and which ones suck. Thanks.

Welcome brother! There are plenty of Porsche guys here. I just got back in to my 4th one two weeks ago, 07 997TT. Come on out to a Katie's Coffee meet on a Saturday or Fair Oaks on a Sunday. Enjoy in good health man!

Welcome to The 6. You will find the best get together a here in the Mid-Atlantic section. Stroll over to the Porsche section for some good tech info. If you want a more local Porsche only site, I highly recommend Dorkiphus.net. These are locals into track, concours and modding. Lots of old school for some good back stories.

Thanks. I will definitely have to come out. I can't believe I've never made it to a Katie's cars and Coffee. Lol I just can't wake up at 6am even though I'm in Ashburn. I'm definitely going to make the attempt to come out when it gets warmer!

Thank you very much Scott. I definitely have to learn to work on this car. I knew the BMW inside and out, but I know this is different, but have read it's not to difficult to DIY.

I like it better. The tranny is magical!! Also IMO handles better then the M. I'll miss my M's but I am enjoying the Cayman!!

Thank you. I had an 09 E90 M3 as well as an E46 M3. Both were highly modified. I don't plan on doing to much to this car other then tune, intake, exhaust, wheels, and maybe a drop, but I haven't decided since the suspension feels so good if I want to mess with it. Any recommendations though would be great!

Welcome and congrats on the cayman. Let me know if you plan on doing any track days with PCA or any organization for that matter. A few guys on here have had some great times out at the events.

TPC seems to have the market around here on modding the Caymans.

Welcome to the 6. this is the premier and largest Porsche forum. 6speedonline started out as a Porsche only forum and has expanded to include most all Marques now but is still predominantly a Porsche forum, you will find tons of porsche owners and enthusiast here on the local subforum as well as the various porshe related subforums.

Awesome! I definitely need to learn how to work on these cars. Very different then from working on a BMW.

Wheels, exhaust, and probably just tune. Haven't decided if I am going to mess with the suspension or not?
