Pricing for BN Mini

what kind of pricing should I expect from brand new Minis in inventory? I always bargain when i buy cars, can I do the same for a mini, or will they just throw me out the door? I don't plan to pay msrp, more like 500-1000 over invoice, what do you guys think, oh btw I'm in L.A. so there are mini dealers every 50 miles.

Never gonna go below MSRP for a new Mini in so cal unless you're personal friends with management or a BMW employee.

Buy out of state or just get a lightly used one from a private seller. DO NOT buy a used one from a local dealer, as they charge at least $2K-$3K premium over private seller and there is no added value.

I'd beg to differ. The folks at Brecht Mini down in Escondido (North San Diego County) are pretty "flexible" when it comes to pushing new Coop's. I friend just got one off the lot. If also heard that they have some discounting if you are a Costco member. Hope this helps. GL!

When my wife got her Cooper S in 2005, they charged MSRP and nothing less. I think you can get a couple bucks off, but getting $500/$1000 off may be a lot of work. I don't think there are many sitting on dealer lots at all as I had to order mine and they only had 2 (S's)on the lot at the time. Though this was 2005 and Long Island...

I guess I should have tempered my previous statement with "no discounts on 'S' models". Dealers are more willing to work a slightly better price on regular models.

I can't speak for San Diego dealers since I have no experience with them, but I can say with 97% certainty that LA/OC dealers are incredibly difficult to deal with when it comes to price on a new Mini. For some reason they try to convince people about the rarity of the cars and how they hold their value so well.

All it takes is 1 trip to a dedicated Mini forum, Ebay, or Autotrader to see that you can buy a 1 year old mini for a HUGE discount over MSRP. LA/OC dealers are full of crap.

The Cooper S is the first and only car we've ever bought at MSRP.

We tried, but it was hopeless -- they rarely negotiate on these cars. They can barely keep any on the lots as it is...

i was helping my cousin by a cooper (non s and on the lot, not an order) from Mini of San Francisco. They wouldn't even go MSRP. He left empty handed not willing to pay $600 over. Nonetheless we drove 30 miles where he was able to get one at MSRP.

It was odd because we bought our cooper there in 05 for MSRP.

couple of bucks off.
the local dealer tries to add on everything extra you can think of.
let's see - dealer license fee, prep fee, processing fee ; all together if you want a new mini, it's gonna set you back MSRP + 400-600$ misc. bs fees.

I think this misc. fees have made me walk out of a mini purchase. if i am buying a car at a discount then i can live with some of these fees, but if i am paying MSPR then i do not want to pay a dealer license fee. I have never paid this before and never will.
