sc or turbo???

Looking into getting a used mini S. I will be doing some mild mods (flash, intake, exhaust, etc). What model is better, the older supercharged S or the newer turbo models? Thanks for you insight.

Hey, The general opinion is the sc model (R53) is by far the more of a driver's car. The turbo is more of a 328i series shrunken...in terms of less feel but more comfort. The turbo's engine stats are impressive but struggles with torque steer 200 ftlb of torque at 1500 rpm. That said the general quality of the car is overall better but less involving of a drive and not as good looking (my opinion) because of a change in safety regs. (more bulky). Hope this helps!

ps. look at the JCW models they wont disappoint with some sticky summer tires 0-60 in like 5.5 seconds not bad for a hot hatch!

R53 is the better choice. If you can find one, the JCW supercharger upgrade will give you 200hp to start. If not, the regular S can be easily upgraded with an underdrive pulley to get some more power out of the supercharger.
