Is that just a can of fix-a-flat or does it have glue/plugs (which I've never used) and a compressor?

Think that sounds like a good way to go along with 16" rims for a bit more sidewall assuming that I can find some lightweight 16's that will clear the JCW brakes.

My kit has a compressor and the goop to fill the puncture. No plugs are included in the kit. Go to Tire Rack's site to check it out.

Also, check tis Mini board out for info on 16" wheels.

Thanks for the link to tirerack.

I'm on NAM however after trying to sort through 5-6 discussions on non run flats when all they were talking / debating was ride quality and performance I figured I'd ask here too.

Appreciate the help

Why are you dropping down to 16"s? Does your JCW come with 18"s?

Well I haven't driven the Mini yet except around town, but my wife who has driven it about 240 miles says it is a big improvement in ride quality. This is saying a lot as she doesn't notice subtle differences in anything car related. Consider that a recommendation for any who don't like the harsh ride of the runflats.

Came with 17's

Thinking of the 16" drop (assuming I can clear the JCW front brakes) to get a little more sidewall for a better ride on the streets as I'd heard good things about this.

I have those same wheels. The 215/45/17 Goodyears really softened the ride nicely compared with the runflats. Too soften the ride even more, you can try the Koni FSD shocks. I have read a lot of good things about the FSD's and it maybe just the thing you are looking for.

How long do the OEM shocks usually last for? Might have to get some Koni's after the stockers have given up their useful life.

I've got yellow Konis on mine and they're great. The suspension is hard but I don't mind. The car isn't supposed to be a comfortable car. Re. tires, I just got a set of Toyo tires for my car, but since it's still pretty cold, I won't make the switch until march or so. My experience with the run flats is that they're keeping the car back performance wise (in turns off course). Didn't like them one bit.
