How much should I pay new MCS?

Hello folks,

I am interested of buying Mini Cooper S. Santa Ana MC dealership is offering MSRP for 2 months order slot. Members reported Mini of Concord offered $1,000 over invoice at around March, 06. Wondering how much and which dealership should I go to? Please help.

The one I want is the S hardtop in British Racing Green with black strip. Automatic. HID. Any other options I should get?

Is that truth that I can mod the S to 210hp later with 1/2 the price of JC work GP kit? around $3,000 ?

Best Regard,

Jacky (Boxster S)

Plenty of mods to boost the peformance of the S. Certainly a new pully will increase the HP but not sure if you can get to 210 without getting a little more radical. There is a new supercharger kit that is in the works and they are claiming HP numbers north of 210. The kit should be rolled out in the next month or so and it maybe the ticket for you but will probably cost a little more than $3K.

I would ditch the runflats and add a rear sway bar.

Long Beach Mini sells only at MSRP, I got mine there but I'm not sure of the current wait. Matt/Tony who are both managers and work as a team are good to deal with, some of the other people who staff MINI mean well but aren't the most knowledgable people. Still my local dealership and they've always treated me well.

As for options, make sure you get the MFSW (multi-function steering wheel) - without it you have no cruise control, and the wheel radio controls are very handy.

The convenience package is another must-get if you're ordering, primarily for the integrated garage door openers (really wish mine had this- bought it off the lot and it's the only thing I really miss though obviously not a huge deal).

I would also strongly suggest the limited slip diff.

If you're trying to keep a minimally equipped car all of these plus your options are a good way to go.

I personally love the panoramic sunroof though it does add a lot of weight where it hurts the most- up high.

I have the factory John Cooper Works kit on my car (210hp- performance and brakes), if I can answer anything related to JCW stuff please let me know.

Best of luck

Looking at a base coupe as a commute car... is there anyone in the SF Bay Area that is willing to give forum members a deal better than MSRP?

well, the 24k is a little more than the new ones I am looking at and Florida is on the opposite side of the country from me... otherwise I might consider it...

Thanks though. Looking more for info on local deals...

I would skip the granny tranny. This car is best suited for a manual gearbox, it kind of negates the purpose with an auto box imho. Otherwise, LSD, sports seats, preferably JCW kit.
