I haven't gotten to drive one, but from what I've heard they're loads of fun. They should hold their value really well considering how few cars thay produced. If you get the chance to buy one, do it. It'll make a great track car.
it's nice. my dealer has about 7 of them on their rooftop all marked SOLD. i guess they're hot. however, the 07 mini got a nice & big update so no idea how those will hold up. the biggest difference will the the new turbocharged engine vs the old supercharged engine. the torque is big difference i heard. the interior is much nicer as well. don't u hate this kinda of things when buying new cars... guess nothing is ever to be perfect.

I'm not a big fan, marginally more power than standard JCW car (214 vs 210), and while the lighter weight is nice, much of that comes from the rear seat removal and there are many people who've done this to non-gp MINIs.
SUPPOSEDLY (though I haven't verified firsthand) the rear strut brace in the rear compartment is more useful to keep cargo from sliding around than actually providing great structural tie-in.
I was really hoping that they'd make this a serious contender, something in the 235hp range, LIGHTWEIGHT 17" wheels and no 'Fast and Furious' wing.
For the very marginal performance differnce I'm more than happy sitting in English leather on a factory JCW car that makes 4hp less and doesn't have those wheels or wing on it.
Great cars though, and the rarity will certainly be appreciated down the road though I doubt they'll hold value like a very limited run of vehicles.

They are great cars, and really quick for a Mini, heck, they're really quick period. I was really really impressed.
If you need one, there may be a car left at Sandia Mini for MSRP, Call Michael at 505-342-0066, last I knew they had one for MSRP. Don't know if it's still there.

Raves: For those of us that enjoy our cars at track days, autocross and time attacks, all you have to do is get on your knees and look underneath the GP to see what this car is all about.
There is much more to this car than it's lighter weight and a few more HP. Take a look at the control/trailing arms. They are HUGE, well engineered for strength, and very light. It has a functional splitter up front and a functional (albeit strange looking) rear wing. This along with the full panning of the underbelly create real downforce at the track speeds we would reach at...say Big Willow turn one or eight for example.
The MINI GP is super rigid out of the box. Cornering and braking limits of this car are extremely high and equal and in some cases exceed those of some far more expensive sports cars. More importantly the GP does this safely because it appears to be purpose built.
Rants:Strange side body cladding, goofy decals, strange bar for a cargo barrier...NOT a structural brace, 18''s would be swapped for 16"' with Yokohama A048's. Eighteens for looks only. 'Wish we could get the seats the Europeans got!
Anthracite dash instead of overly plastic silver dash they chose for the GP.
This is a great third car [or like many on this site...6th or 7th car
] to have for a discerning enthusiast who loves to take his/her driving to another level but doesn't want to worry about wadding up or chipping his L, P, or F car!
Best of all, your in a hot subcompact that isn't perceived to be driven by a spikey haired punk kid out to exceed his talent as a driver on our freeways.

Hi Dzy
Great write up on the New Mini.
May i ask?
Did you find the turbo to have a greater kick to it than the supercharger?
also if anyone finds a GP for msrp please let me know.
