Mini announces run-out convertibles





Although the second-generation Mini hatchback has just gone on sale, it'll be 2008 before the Mini Convertible gets the same tweaks. So, in order to maintain interest in its cabrio range, Mini is bundling together some new paint colours, making a few interior tweaks and throwing in some additional equipment for a family of added value special edition cabrios: the Mini Sidewalk models.

Due to be shown off at the Detroit show next month, the Sidewalk editions will be available in Mini One, Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S form. Opt for one of them and you'll get four new paintwork colours to choose from, malt brown leather upholstery, 17in painted alloy wheels and special Sidewalk badging.

Prices start from £16,910 for the Mini One Sidewalk, ranging up to £20,235 for the Cooper S equivalent, which might strike you as a lot of money for a Mini Convertible. However, because you get a more generous standard specification that includes stability and traction control, a multi-function steering wheel, sports seats and air conditioning, Mini insist that you're actually saving 25 per cent against the options list cost of the extra kit.

Mini's Sidewalk special edition convertibles will be available from April 2007.
