Well, my opinion is biased...but at least give the R a test drive before writing it off!

R32 if you're looking for the AWD, if that is not necessary check out the mkv GTI. Its quick, super nice interior, and I get insane gas mileage. ~390 miles to the tank ~13.5 gallons.

I actually have fought with myself over the same decision. I have an Audi TT now, but I want to get rid of it and was going to get the R32 which I have wanted for a long time, but they do suck a lot of gas with the V6 - so I am siding with the Mini S now, as I think it will be better on gas, and I know its a fun ride too.

Mini Cooper S FTW IMO

imo everything stated above is correct. As far as tuning goes the mini has the upper hand cost wise, r32's def aren't cheap to mod. You also have to factor in wheither you prefer a manual to a dsg tranny, if you want a manual than you'd have to go with a mk4 r32, as all the mk5's are dsg. If your wanting a daily that your not going to tune than i'd go w/ the r32, as they hold their value incredibly well, when compared w/ the mini. In the end drive both and go w/ what works for you.
