Porsche Newb, Ferrari not so much

Hey all my name is John and I'm kinda new here but not to the car game. I bought my first car that would qualify me for this site almost 10 years ago. A lonely, old, dilapidated and neglected '78 Ferrari 308 GTS. It has been a dream and a nightmare rolled into one at times. I have completely gutted the interior and redone it. I've been over just about every inch of the car except for removing the motor and gearbox. And that may not be far away. What can I say, I bought one that needed, well, honestly it needed just about everything!

Last month I got rid of my pickup truck for something a bit more fun. I bought what I thought was a decent 2005 Cayenne Turbo. It is starting to turn into a familiar situation as I keep learning that these German cars can be just as spendy as Italian ones to fix. A few days into ownership I found out that the trans valve body was bad. Also realized that what I though was just a squeaky brake issue will be a couple grand in parts too.

The good news is without knowing what it meant I bought one with the IE81 power kit upgrade so it is fun to drive.

I installed a sprint booster which seems to be a simple fix for the lack of throttle response. I also have a rev-max trans valve on the way and am going to redo the brakes as soon as I get that done. Oh, and I will be looking for an exhaust to open it up a bit more. It's way too quiet especially compared to it's elder Italian stable mate!

Looking forward to learning more about things here. The site has already been a help!!

Welcome, John. I think we met in Anchorage 3 or 4 years ago. Congrats on the Cayenne. The Turbo Power Kit is an awesome option package.

I remember that Tim. You worked at a shop downtown right? Didn't we go to lunch with Bob? I think I've only been back up one time since then and it's been just over 5 years ago! How time flies.

Yeah the Cayenne is going to be fun once I get it all sorted and am hopefully done spending big chunks of change on it!! You're not in Alaska anymore?

Yeah, that was me. You had your dad with you, didn't you?
I took a job down here in Ohio in 2012, and haven't been back up there yet since.
The Cayenne will be quite reliable once the big things are out of the way.

Is there a reason a thread would disappear and tell me I am not able to access it? Was one about magnaflow exhaust that I had replied to and now it's gone. I did post a link in it, but don't think I did anything wrong? Odd! I even got an email about another reply to it but the link goes nowhere now!?

Yeah, winters are a lot more bearable here. I just wish they didn't use salt on the roads. Summers can get a little hot for me though!

I guess it must have been? Weird.

Thanks! Getting it sorted out. Replaced the trans valve body last weekend and have new brakes and exhaust on the way. Hopefully that does it for awhile.
