Oldie But Newbie Here
I have been involved with Porsches for over 40 years now, and still love these cars. Over the years, I've had (7) 911's, a 944, (2) 968's, and am currently involved in a project to build a 914 /6 GT conversion car. This latest car should be street ready in about 3 - 4 months. It's a restored 914 with 911 suspension under it, and a 3.2 Porsche engine rated at about 235 hp.
I've owned my cars over the years and generally have them one at a time. Currently, in addition to the 914 project, I have a 98 993 C2S which is my ultimate 911.
I've attached photos of both cars.
My title talks to me being an oldie and a newbie at the same time. I actually signed up for this forum a number of years ago; but, for reasons that escape me, I've spent all my years lurking and participating on the Pelican and Rennlist sites rather than here. Recently, in discussing an engine issue on my 993 with a friend, he suggested that I go to this forum for advice. Which is why I am now coming forward!
Though I love driving these cars, if I look to my past, I find that I spend more time wrenching on my cars. Call it therapy from a white collar career.....but, I just like the jolt I get from swinging a wrench and then finding that what I have done makes a difference. I am not a pro, but I have rebuilt a handful of 911 motors, and an array of less complicated machines over the years. Last year I finished a total rebuild of the 3.6 motor out of my 993. Quite a step forward in complexity from the first 911 motor I did which was out of a 1970 911T I owned.
I look forward to participating on this site.
