Newly Track Obsessed

Hi all,

New user here and have always visited this site for good info. I have recently started getting some significant track time and really think the only cure is eventually getting into racing. Looking for a Porsche that is well sorted (PCA and SCCA ready) and would prefer a Cayman S/R or GT3 ... understanding that these cars will need significant time in them (and training) before getting anywhere near a race ... BUT... I have been scouring the internets and finding that the Caymans are especially hard to come by for under 100K. Is this really where the market is at? GT3 Cup cars seem to be plentiful in the 50 to 90K range as long as you are in the 01 to 08 years. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated and I look forward to putting off work for many hours while on here.
Not looking to purchase until the end of this season ... trying to be ready to go for the '16 season!

Welcome! You definitely want to go with a GT3, the Caymans, etc usually have some beefed up road car engine and are not wholeheartedly designed for track use. The GT3 has the good ole 964 Mezger bottom end and is available with a sequential gearbox. 996 GT3R, GT3 Cup, or GT3 RSR are definitely the way to go.
